Greeks typically dye their eggs red on Easter to signify the blood shed by Jesus when he was crucified. When Greeks "crack" each others eggs, it represents the breaking of the stone that covered Jesus' tomb before he was resurrected.

That"s why the bunny was invented to make it cute for the kids to take out the focus of Jesus Christ. sorry but this happens when the Bible is not read or studied. We dye it red and then we challenge and crash our eggs together. Whose egg will break will lose and before we do that "challenge" we say - christ has been risen. Idk if its translated like this but we say that in our country language

My eggs seem to be taking a lot longer than 5-6 minutes to take the colour. Is there anything I can do?

No worries.... sometimes it may take a bit longer for the colour to absorb. Try and be a little more patient. The longer they soak, the deeper the colour....
