I think it is not so easy as what you touted in this video! Many of the Akiya houses required the buyers, in the case of a foreigner, to have permanent residency as a basic criteria before being considered qualified to buy as the government expects you to stay in the property instead of making it a second home or treating it as an investment.

I have lived in Japan for over 14 years and there is no way that a foreigner can legally buy a house in Japan and own the deed to it unless he has a Japanese co-signer or sponsor. That is the only reason why I have not bought one. I am not buying anything that I can not put my name on the deed and own myself.

Foreigners can buy houses and land easy, securing a visa is a seperate issue though.

@@f-150boys6 you are thinking of Thailand and Vietnam etc. There's no legal blockers preventing foreigners from owning land or houses in Japan. All you need is money (cash) and a signatory stamp for document signing.

Bro you literally showed Tokyo Llama's house and siad that it's in Tokyo and costs 27K. His house was 40K winning bid and it's in Ibaraki, not Tokyo. Stop the lies fam. You cant find houses in Tokyo under 200K lol keep dreaming

In on of his first videos he mentioning the price being 27k I'm just going off what he said. you can find houses under 200k in Tokyo I have seen them personally. I think you're underestimating the size of Tokyo.

@@KDWil I guess you are talking about current exchange rates/USD the yen is really weak right now maybe that's the discrepancy, but the house was 4million yen at the time of the video was is about 40k usd if I remember correctly. It's basically impossible to find a house under 200K in the 23 wards of Tokyo, I've only seen it once or twice before. You might be talking about Kanto region including places like Okutama, tamagawa etc but not within Tokyo city, that's a very rare find if so. Hahah if you find a house under 200K in Tokyo city please tell me I'd like to buy it
