The '43 coppers and '44 "steelies" are both rarer than hen's teeth but do exist. Most likely in some wealthy person's collection. Did you know the "surplus" '43 steelies planchets were turned into 1944 Belgium 2 Franc coins?

About 4 years ago I went to a couple coin shops and got 5k wheat cents for about $150. I threw in a few Indian heads and a 1909 wheat. I took them to a local auction house and they sold for just over $1,200.

Found dime metal detecting in the water, after taking 4 to 5 shovels to the shore, I found it and I looked at it and I knew that it was old for one then I saw dime like at the bottom of it, so I went home and looked at it again an saw a lady sitting on something on the front, flipped it over an it had half written on the top, I didn't even know that they even made a half dime ,flipped it back and it had 1878 on the front pretty shore because it's the oldest coin I've found next to a 1883 o,silver Morgan head dollar both from in the water at a old beach. The Canadian cent is actually part of a series that you can find a penny a silver dollar a 50 cent coin a a ten cent and a five cent I have the 5 cent and 10 cent

This is why I pick up pennies up here in Canada The banks still give them out of you ask nicely ;) So ultimate find last week 2 gold half sovereigns in a penny roll ($400in gold) 😮 I also found 3 rolls of 1943 steel cents And sold them for $3 a lot - lot of 3 with all 3 mint marks Did really well 👍

I would assume most wheat cents from eBay have been cherry picked. Ironically, especially the ones that go out of their way to label them as "unsearched". Also, you mention getting them for ~1.5 cents, yet I'm looking at auctions right now selling a single roll anywhere from $2.99 to $9.
