Casa de Fritos (0:25) was not in San Diego, but in Anaheim. It was a restaurant at Disneyland operated by Frito. It was a route salesman for Alex Foods (which provided the food service supplies to Casa de Fritos) who noticed that unused tortillas were being thrown in the trash at the end of the day. He suggested to the cook to cut them into triangles and season them in the style of a Zapotec Mexican snack called totopos. It was later that post-merger Frito-Lay executive Arch West visited the restaurant and discovered the wildly popular snack that had been added to the menu without Frito-Lay's knowledge. West saw a major marketing opportunity. Frito-Lay bought all the equipment Alex Foods would need to produce the chips to be distributed nationally, and decided the product would be called Doritos.

They went from $1.79, all the way up to $6.49 AND they shrunk the size of the bag. I would walk past the section at the store and no one ever took one bag. A couple of months later, they put them on "sale" for $4.99. They still didn't move off of the shelf. Last week, they had to knuckle under to $3.99. It's disgusting, because you know they're still making a profit. I picked up a bag and an hour after eating them, my stomach hurt badly. I loved the video but just like on many products involving an agricultural product, you incorrectly showed “green corn” being harvested instead of “dry corn” which is used for the making of Doritos. “Green corn” is the type of corn you eat off the cob or pack the kernels in a can with water. Dry corn contains less than 15% moisture when harvested and is basically used to make corn meal or products like Doritos. Thank you.

Step 2 : Get your fav blend of Doritos outa the bag and spread them evenly around the plate Step 3: Grate your favorite cheese all over the Doritos Step 4: Now chop up Shallots, (Spring Onions), Carrots, Tomatoes, Capsicum, and Chilies if you like it hot Step 5: Pour over the above with either Sour Cream or Thickened Cream. (Your choice) Step 6: An additional extra if you prefer is to also top with your fav Chili sauce Step 7: Put it all in your Microwave for 3 to 4 minutes. Step 8: Pull it out and eat it while it's hot with your fingers. Have a hand towel standing by Step 9: Enjoy I used to think my Mum invented that dish. She said that I did when I was about 13 years old. But anyway, I still call it after her. I call them " Ivycho's" 😃
