Here is a detailed explanation of the jeans manufacturing process: 1. **Cotton Cultivation and Harvesting**: - Cotton takes about 5 months to grow. - Harvested using a cotton picker machine that separates cotton from the seed. 2. **Cotton Processing**: - Cotton is cleaned, dried, and refined into bales. - Bales contain enough fiber to produce approximately 325 pairs of jeans. 3. **Thread Production**: - Cotton fibers are carded, combed, and spun into thread. - Threads are dyed indigo blue through multiple immersions. 4. **Fabric Weaving**: - Dyed threads are mixed with white threads on looms to create denim fabric. - Looms produce about 3,000 meters of fabric per week. 5. **Pattern Cutting**: - Fabric is cut into patterns using automated cutting machines. - Each pair of jeans requires about 1.6 meters of fabric. 6. **Sewing**: - Cut fabric pieces are sewn together by a team of workers. - Specialized machines and processes are used for different parts (zippers, pockets, seams). 7. **Distressing and Finishing**: - Jeans undergo treatments like laser fading, sandpaper distressing, and chemical bleaching. - These treatments give jeans a worn look and unique character. 8. **Washing and Final Treatments**: - Jeans are stone-washed or treated with ozone to enhance flexibility and softness. - Final steps include ironing, attaching buttons, and adding labels. 9. **Quality Inspection and Packaging**: - Each pair undergoes a final inspection to ensure quality. - Finished jeans are packaged and shipped to stores worldwide.

Great video on how jeans are made! I'm really interested in the process of creating distressed jeans. What techniques do factories use to achieve that worn-out look, and how do they ensure the durability of the fabric despite the distressing? Anyone here have any favorite styles or brands of distressed jeans?

They use Co2 lasers. Normal lasers burn the jeans and tear through them. Co2 lasers engrave the jeans, or can go through them in a more controlled way. Sanding and using a dermal is also a good option.

As we all know (except the narrator).... The word "denim" comes from the French phrase serge de Nîmes, which means "serge from Nîmes". Serge is a tough fabric made from wool. The word "denim" came about in English in an unusual way: Pronunciation: The "s" in Nîmes is not pronounced in French, so when the name of the fabric came into English, it was often written as "serge de Nim". Shortening: Over time, the name was shortened to "denim". Use: Denim was first used in American English around 1850

Better to change "jeans" for a higher standard of material. Jeans have got people in a lower style of dressing!
@jameskelson1891Ай бұрын
Years ago, I switched to 60/40 khaki pants. They typically look good and last for years. In addition they are typically half the price of jeans. I don't understand the fascination with denim jeans. They shrink, fade, and wear out quickly. Distressed jeans are even more puzzling. Certainly the denim style seems to appeal to teenagers. Personally I prefer pants that are more functional.
