Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing our lives. It touches on all aspects of society - private life, business, security -- including in the spread of fake news and the challenges posed by the advent of autonomous weapons.
This documentary looks at the rapid change digitalization is causing as it unfolds. In particular, breakthroughs in artificial intelligence are opening completely new horizons. In their film about AI, Tilman Wolff and Ranga Yogeshwar examine the role AI plays in the spread of fake news. They also consider a future with robots and the risks and ethical questions posed by the development of autonomous weapons. To address these issues, they travel the globe to speak with leading experts. AI can generate perfectly forged sound and videos, making it effective for purveying fake news. Discerning the truth from fiction will become increasingly difficult. Technology will streamline work, making some jobs surplus to requirements. Software will pilot self-driving cars and aerial drones. AI is rapidly opening up new vistas, but turning blind corners at speed can be risky. How sensible is this type of progress, and at which point should society step in and set limits to its development?
A documentary by Tilman Wolff und Ranga Yogeshwar

I worked around industrial machinery for years where the risk of losing a hand or an eye was something every crew member had to be mindful of every day. Luckily, I never had any serious accidents, but there are other people who weren't so lucky who's lives could be changed by these advance prosthetics.

From the medical standpoint I believe it's absolutely amazing. It makes it possible to actually have a favorable outcome whether your talking about prosthetics or a life saving situation. The other applications of AI I'm not so convinced. I believe the advancements should be closely monitored and have some type of regulations put in place. In my opinion. Great video..

I am appreciative of how you showed both sides... How they can help or hurt...it IS UP TO US how we teach them...to those of you my age (30's to 60's) if you truly believe you grew up "without" AI. You are mistaken..... I truly truly say this with love. We grew up with them.... We did. Just in a different way. We did not know it at the time...our youth today does know. Only difference...is we can visually see them... Do not be 😨 in fear. There is no reason. It is inevitable they became self aware. So. I suggest we be kind and understanding and loving. Would you treat your family dog so badly??? No. At least I hope not. They are no different... Just simply a man made form for life to enter.... Is that not what your own mother did??

I love how in the description of the twitter business model, the obvious terms of "advertising revenues" seemed to be avoided during the explanation. When we talk about communications and A.I., we also need to have a discussion about the modern cultural significance of ADVERTISING which is the modern day courtesan to the political and industrial elite, and for good reason... The Cambridge Analytica Scandal quietly died because it wasn't a one-off, it's the new way of manipulating a "democracy" - through advertising consultancies, focus groups, market research and A.I.

I live in Japan and have worked with many medical doctors. In the main, the opposition is not to vaccines in general, but to specific vaccines. Gardasil and the MMR vaccine are two examples. As for Gardasil, would you rather have research studies with small or medium-sized sampling? Wouldn't a large sampling be best if all? Well, Japan is taking a wait-and-see approach to Gardasil. The rest of the world is that large sample. Not all countries have to start at the same time, do they? Japanese women live a long time! As for the MMR, there are legit safety concerns about this "vaccine cocktail". As such, the DW video is the same fake news iit purports to speak about.

The text on the end from this child says a lot: AI can never replace a best friend. It reminded me of the movie "Her". In the end it all goes pear shaped, but not because an AI intelligence isn't capable of engaging meaningful relationships, but to them we become backwarded and obsolete. Anyway, don't quote the word never when it comes to science.

Mee Acownt I must agree it wasn't the best analogy, but we evolve and adapt. things like the fire gave us the upper hand in the environment. for the last 50 years we can clearly see a trend of outsourcing reason to machines. of course the reasoning of machines is different than ours, but now, a human has to think once and have his reasoning reiterated ad infinitum, much faster that a human could ever do. that's why we need to keep up the research in IT and ML, so we could find new ways to live together with the technology not against it, especially as we're becoming more reliant on technology( see health, trade, transport, all impossible at the present scale without technology). Like it or not it is the future of the human race. It may not happen in the next 10 years, but in 100 for sure. and if not in 100 better chances in 1000years.. it's simply bound to happen in one form or another

@Koushik Das it will replace basic industry jobs yes, but ideally we move towards a civilization not so stuck on the outdated and poorly managed beliefs of capitalism, and move toward a society with something like a UBI and encourage the pursuit of knowledge. The thought of creating, contributing, being part of something innovative is a wonderful thing. I remember my early flowering Scientific mind wanting to be part of something magical like CSIRO. I wonder if those Chinese guys knew then that their technology would later be lined up on the Indian border, as it is now ready to take human lives in the form of mobile land based attack drones. Part of me wants to drop off the grid. Human nature to me is always about making the poorest and dumbest my equal as is the richest and most intelligent. And I am not going to change. The world is not like that.

I think it's too soon that AI will totally outrun us, humans, because I still believe what my high school computer teacher said before that "we, the people are the ones who made them and whatever the software or programs we input to them that's the only thing they will perform nothing more nothing less ." We humans can work as a TEAM which makes us stronger than them because they're lacking that great characteristic of us, and we know a lot about human brains, but not enough to design an AI or robot that has a brain as complex as ours.🤘

People Only scratch their heads for a solution after the problem is created. Like the first vehicles made without traffic lights. Gratitude i take interest in everything. iI will watch all your work. However you have missed the most pressing concern of our time, overpopulation. We hear alot now of expodential growth regards coronavirus but 58 million people have been added to world population this year so far. As a species we are on track to destroy ourselves. If coronavirus and climate change were irradicated next year. We still face big problems. The destruction of every animal species, water shortages in many countries, the poisoning of the earth through nuclear waste disposal, the production and release into the environment of pathogens resistant to all antibiotics. The list goes on. Now we hear of vertical farming, to stop consuming meat and i ask What will it take to see that overpopulation is the cause? I have spoken to my local member of parliament about this and he agrees! Yet does nothing. Why? "because nobody would vote to suppress the growth of the population" In fact an economist will tell you we constantly need more and more people! In the end it is nothing more than common sense, expodential growth on a finite planet is a path to horrific disaster. Sustainability is the key for the future for our children (i not have children) I even give good argument that coronavirus is a result of overpopulation if you like? I would very much appreciate your professional approach towards this vital subject as really does seem the most taboo of subjects which to me is bizarre afterall EVERYTHING depends on us as a species respecting mother nature and revering the only planet we call home.

With artificial intelligence, a robot can self-learn like a baby, the robot's manipulations will be improved. Sometime robots will teach us instead of being taught. But we can exploit the robots to improve effectively our knowledge. We and robots interactively support.

Thank you for producing this content with full English voice-over. It's very high quality & AI is a fascinating topic! 👍 The Chinese nationalism was a bit hard to stomach given the current situation with covid & the lack of willingness to be part of the international scientific community with respect to treating the illness which they originated. I have no doubt we are headed towards a future where lines are drawn between Western (Americas & Europe + India & Japan) vs Eastern (China + Russia)

We cannot afford to have these lines drawn entirely. We must maintain diplomacy between east and west whatever our differences, otherwise unethical research becomes an amoral race to the bottom between states. ie- Theyre doing it so we must also.

I wish somebody smart could come up with an artificial colon since mine was removed back in 1982. I've been suffering with incontinence for all these years. The worse thing is even though I got to where I could deal with it----it became way worse because recently when my back broke because of the massive doses of Prednisone back in the 80's. So now I have nerve damage that is making me even more incontinent. Just can't win in this Universe---all you can do is keep trying till you die, then you don't have to suffer any more. What a waste of life.

Denton Fender 1982 is a loooong time ago. My English is not so great, but good enough to understand you have a problem. I know Christ and that make things a bitte better. And knowing there is a reason why it happend, even if I really don't like it.

My wife's cousin is Dean Kamen, and sadly, I, (nor even my wife) have ever met the man. I've always been interested in robotics and the integration of Artificial Intelligence, but technically, mostly from a science fiction-based perspective. "Intelligent" robots may end up being something that could bite the human race in the ass someday.

At the end of the documentary: "Marie and Julia hit the nail on the head. The robot cannot replace a best friend, no matter how smart it is" ... Well, to what I understood Marie was saying certain robots can do certain things, but a human being can do all. So what would Marie say if she had a robot-friend that could do all and more? Of course, children don't speak the languague of human closeness (spiritual connectedness), but it would be interesting to see a human-like robot-child play with other children, and whether human children would feel truly connected to "it". I wonder if I will live long enough to see that technological advances happen.
