Some of the Canadian grocery stores like Metro, Freshco, Sobeys, No Frills, Loblaws has 1 aisle for international foods from Asia, Middle East, Europe, Britain whereas the specialty stores are open & have wider selection of products from those regions.

T&T, Hmart, Pan Asian to name a couple is in Canada. Bargaining lower prices is usually at the Middle Eastern markets known as the "souk" where bargaining is a sport of sorts like Iran, Iraq & other Middle Eastern countries.

I just wanted to add on about the supermarket carts and yes they are true to the size. However when I go shopping in Japan, Hong Kong, China, or anywhere in Asia. The grocery is purchased in smaller ratio and used in few days. While for me in USA, the food is store for days or weeks. I do not go shopping often in USA but in Asia, I go buying fresh ingredients every day or few days. I think it is also helpful that the markets are closer too in Asia while the market here for me is not as close in walking distance. Good coverage on this topic! I love seeing and understanding differences in cultures!

In states like Illinois, Ohio, etc.. you can buy alcohol at the supermarket. But it New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania etc... you have to go to specialty shops for alchohol. In Pennsylvania(not sure if its still true havent lived there for 20 years) you had to go to a seperate store for Beer and alchohol and they're not open on sundays. In Montreal you can buy wine at the supermarket and horse meat and some other game like deer etc.. is available.

Peach reminds me of Mrs. Eats. Could they be related?

I live on Vancouver Island, In the city of Nanaimo to my North there are 3 Asian stores and I was at our (my sister and I's) favourite Asian store Man Lee this past Thursday! My sister spent time in the Republic of Koren. She likes cooking Korean food. She was visiting and made some Korean food for a number of our meals and it was awesome!
