The plastics are produced locally. That’s what makes it so compelling, it can easily be produced anywhere and everywhere. Producing bio plastics takes a lot of energy than producing conventional plastics. The plastics are not the problem, the way we handle the waste is the problem. Instead of wasting time and money on developing such useless short term bio plastics, we should work on how to improve the waste management system

Something to consider... there is currently a major water shortage in Michoacan, Mexico where these avocados are harvested. It's very well known that avocado trees require an incredible amount of water.

Well, organic is a little different from biological. Considering it's organic matter that accumulated over centuries it can't really be called biological since the stuff is dead. Biological usually is in reference to living things. Either way, there are spectra everywhere and just cuz you see a correlation doesn't mean they're the same thing; biofuels and biodegradable materials are obviously better for the environment, it's well documented.

Lets be clear - bioplastic does not breakdown/compost in a landfill unless the temperature is kept above 75 degree, let alone a beach, gutter or forest. When they say bioplastic decomposes faster they mean 75 to 100 years, instead of 150 years.

Fun Fact (not really): avocado growers in Mexico started welcoming the cartel because they were offering services to these workers such as security for their land, products and themselves that the state failed (as always) to do so. So over time the cartel started to ask for the tax money in exchange for these services. Then they started to become more predatory (not only did they open their portfolio to drugs but wanted to expand to avocados too). Now they do extortion fees and the growers are carrying weapons now 24/7. Just a behind the scenes thing that not everyone knows about

I'm Indian from India. What cookie spoons again? Single use plastic is banned. Apparently the plastic used from garbage bags to delivery take away packaging is BETTER plastic now, or so we are told. Indians even reuse delivery plastics for storage organization etc. But after a point you do throw. They send these forks and spoons made of soft wood these days... 99% delivery parcels don't even send spoons now. You gotta use your own dineware. Reducing on single use cutlery. And I save those to reuse them after washing. I DO NOT THROW the not used bunch of plastic cutlery served in Indian flights. I bring them home even if someone thinks I'm cheap. But it's literally not touched. And would be thrown the next second! I use them at home when I'm taking a homemade meal out in lunch etc. Atleast USE the single use plastic before throwing! Every flight so many cutlery kits are literally thrown, (for example if you choose to eat Indian food by hand like a paratha etc.) My mother was skeptical at first on what will people think? But now even she brings in flight single use plastic cutlery to not be wasteful & not just throw them even without use. I wish more people did that.

@@aliveandwell3958 Correct, I can see that and i completely agree with you, this is a great idea to fight our plastic problems, but behind the scenes, like the water in mexico, it has pretty much disappeared, the locals relied on that water that flows through there rivers so they could plant there own crops, but now they can't because of the demand of avocados which is absorbing it all up so we can have our guacamole, our "guac on toast" ect...,now there's this bioplastic (which is a huge step and its great) that comes from the avocado pits like it says, but this means that the demand will go even higher, which means thell plant even more trees... and so on. Its solving one problem but making another even worse, im not trying to be annoying but its true, we'll just have to keep testing until we get it right, we are definitely getting closer

There's limited space on these ships and when they get full, additional ships are constructed to make additional trips. Every container of product you ship will contribute towards that.

When you open it there's a plastic tray to hold them upwards and a plastic foam insert to keep them from moving. Good job making an eco friendly item! Poor planning on the packaging though

Do you live in Mexico? Do you know how many avocados they have to compost? It takes months probably years to compost many of them, it’s a long process. Given the amount of just one worker that makes that amount of avocados. Plus the space they need, on top of that the environment around them.
