I’m not aware of other reviewers of business class products who are taller than 6ft2, so I thought it might benefit some of the taller folks.

Excellent presentation and video quality. Your trip is getting us excited. We fly April 2nd from Bangkok to Singapore. 6 hour layover then onto San Francisco on Singapore Airlines business class. The return allows us a 10 hour layover in Singapore which should be enought ime to take the complimentary city tour and also a airport tour. Definitely lots of time for numerous Singapore Slings. Thanks for sharing the video.

I’m jealous of your layovers and plans while you’re “stuck” in Singapore. I didn’t have the opportunity to check out the Jewel or try the city tour. Enjoy your trip.

Solid review. Very nice. Thank you for mentioning how to request amenities on the flight. Pity Business Class doesn't get pajamas. BTW, how big are the slippers? I think they would be too small for my size US12 feet. I'm 6'5" (mostly leg) so it's always nice to find a reviewer around my height. How did you find the foot well that is off to the side? I presume you slept on your side with the knees bent. I know some reviewers recommend the front bulkhead seats due to the wider foot well. Was your duck from Book the Cook?

Thanks for the comment @pcmacintyre. It is a shame that PJs are no longer included in business class. A large slipper should fit your feet as I am a size 13 and found size large to be an OK fit (a little snug). Sleeping was actually quite easy, though I could probably sleep well on a concrete slab. I did end up sleeping on my side with with my knees bent. The duck was actually one of the options on the menu that I reserved prior to the flight. Singapore Airlines recommends you pre-order/reserve your meal selection to ensure there are proper quantities on-board.

For longer flights, Business Class can be seriously preferable. On short flights of an hour or so, I can live with economy travel, but on long-haul I just can't handle Economy Class anymore.

I’m just curious why you didn’t take the flight from Newark instead of the extra day of travel to LAX.
@phlyingdoctor
@phlyingdoctor Жыл бұрын
That definitely would make more sense. The decision came down to my available miles and the fare difference to redeem an award flight. It would have cost more to leave from Newark.

@@phlyingdoctor aha. Yes that makes total sense. Interesting they charge a premium from east coast. They keep adding east coast flights and they keep filling up.

Thanks for the upload. As an American (I guess?) you will find many airlines business class an improvement over U.S. carriers. Singapore Airlines has long enjoyed a high reputation. Your comment on lounge access is unfortunately becoming less accurate. From my experience I’m finding more and more business class lounges over crowded and not the good experience they used to be. Of course this isn’t always the case but it is becoming more frequent. As you said, the difference in price between say, economy and business becomes very evident, especially on long haul flights longer than 7/8 hours.
@phlyingdoctor
@phlyingdoctor Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment. I agree with you on the lounge comment. Now days, one may need to queue in a line to enter a lounge during peak hours. Thanks to the pandemic, many airlines & companies cut back on some of their lounge offerings and are very slowly beginning to reintroduce those products, let alone re-open lounges. This was my first trip experiencing airlines outside of the US. When in Australia, I was reminded of what flying in the US pre-9/11 was like.

It's sad when people have to make videos about their flying experience that should be available for everyone at reasonable prices rather than making comfortable flying unobtainable for most people while airlines and airline executives rake in huge amounts of money.

I just did a quick search for reference. Scott Kirby United's CEO made about $10 million last year. United had about 104 million passengers. That means it costs about $0.10 per occupied seat to pay the CEO's pay About 20 cents per round trip ticket. For comparison Ed Bastian Delta $12.4 million Scott Kirby United $9.85 million Doug Parker American $7.24 million Gary Kelly Southwest $5.8 million Ted Christie Spirit $3.87 milion Barry Biffle Frontier $3.6 million Robin Hayes JetBlue $3.45 million Ben Minicucci Alaska $3.21 million Also: In 2021, United Airlines posted a net loss of $1.964 billion. This was on $24.6 billion of revenue and $25.6 billion in operating expenses. this compares to a $7.1 billion net loss in 2020 and a $3 billion profit in 2019. In 2019 United had 162 million passengers. That's about $20 per passenger towards profit For round trip business class ticket in the month of May on Singapore Airlines, the cost is anywhere from $9797 - $16,882 Of that, if we used United's profit in 2019 vs passengers flown. $40 would go towards profit and $0.20 would go to pay the CEO

Great review. Last year we flew Qantas, Singapore, Turkish and Emirates in BC. You fork out the money to be able to sleep. Singapore A350 seats are hard as a rock. Out of all the BC flights we took we placed Singapore in last place. Was so disappointed after all the hype not to mention they were the most expensive of all.
@phlyingdoctor
@phlyingdoctor Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that. This was my first experience in BC, so all I had to compare it to were domestic economy seats. Compared with those, Singapore BC is hands-down superior.

@@ihmpall totally agree, As for "watching paint dry". Author needs to address the "how bad .... " header, certainly not keen to follow any further misleading "poor me" posts that have no substance. Take a lesson from the well known and respected airline reviewers that have honest direct reviews clearly stating their reasons for their options and filming examples. And they present with titles to match their opinion.

I fly Singapore BC at least once per month. My only complaint is theres not enough privacy if you get the urge to masturbate. They give you a warm blanket but the other passengers still suspect something if you move your hand too fast.
