Common issue on these G35/G37's are driver and passenger heater hose couplers as they are plastic and become brittle and break in time at the back of the engine. As a precaution I replaced mine with the updated Z1 metal couplers w/bleeder screws and new rubber hoses. Hope you get it sorted out Randy, I believe that is the smoke.

They're good cars. I have a '13 G37x and have been driving it for 5 years. I had a few issues here and there, but overall, it was reliable. I had an overheating problem before, the radiator fan stopped working properly. I had it fixed, and no issue after all. They're fun and quick!

Actually the Maxima uses the older VQ35DE engines, this is the newer VQ35HR which only lasted 1-2 years on the G35 before they upgraded them to the even newer VQ37HR. HR stands for high revolution.

I was definitely excited to see this car on the channel! You won’t regret bringing this car back to life. These are great cars that pack a punch. This car is more related to the 350Z than the Maxima. The Maxima is a front driver, whereas the G35 has a RWD chassis and more powerful, higher revving V6, both of which are shared with the 350Z. Also, unlike the Maxima, the G35 and all of its successors never used a CVT. These motors are known for being bulletproof, so I’d say a popped head gasket is quite unlikely. Apparently these heater hoses are known for cracking since they’re (stupidly) made of plastic, which doesn’t survive after several heat cycles. Once you put a metal one on, and give the car just a little TLC, you’re in for quite a treat. A 306 horsepower luxury sports sedan, and the one you bought in particular is RWD (AWD ones would say G35x). A lot of people don’t give these cars enough credit, and I bet you would have a lot of fun with it before you send it down the road.

Those Nissan 3.5 engines are no slouch, they're very peppy sound great with an exhaust as well, almost exotic sounding, that engine has been used for many many years as well in the Maxima and other ones, this 3.5 and along with the 2.5 that's in the Sentra and Altima, are very stout engines. They actually made a SER Ultima with the 3.5, that was almost 300 horsepower. My sister-in-law has a newer Maxima and she's got a hard time staying off the pedal because it's so fun and so much power compared to her Prius which we all know it is what it is but she loves driving a Maxima she said it's like a little NASCAR but for city streets lol but you can actually get decent gas mileage if you're not heavy on the pedal but it's hard not to because that engine is so refined and perfect.
@renamon19836 сағат бұрын
Love your videos, I only have one thing to say, putting cold coolant/water in a hot engine causes disproportionate cooling of the block and heads and if you don't have a blown headgasket you soon will, heating and cooling of the engine has to be even and balanced. So if you overheat make sure you let it cool down naturally then put coolant into it. I know it's time consuming but it's better then a blown headgasket.
@AutoAuctionRebuilds6 сағат бұрын
Believe me I’m well aware of this I’ve been doing this for almost 30 years it’s all for video content my man letting it cool naturally doesn’t cause a beautiful explosions from the cold hitting the hot 😊
@renamon19836 сағат бұрын
@AutoAuctionRebuilds your so true there 😄 wouldn't be as attention grabbing without that steamy burst and if it does blow the gaskets it's not a big loss and it's also not a rare car it shouldn't cause a big stink

@FarmerTom-bz6tnСағат бұрын
Experience with blown head gaskets suggested this may be what has occurred. Gonna need to do a thorough head and block check for warpage. If the previous owner ran it hot enough, the block and or head may be garbage. Only one way to find out. Your thoughts on sending it down the road are a good choice. With the exterior dings and potential thousands needed to fix the coolant loss/overheating issue, the odds of it only being a bad head gasket are greater. Pulling the engine to do a thorough inspection while bolted to an engine stand is necessary. Block and head could be junk from warping. I haven't priced a short block and head lately.

Be sure to bleed the cooling system the correct way because on the older Infiniti there is a three way pipe with a Phillips cut out near the firewall to release the backside of the engines pressure I don't know if they still use this method I'm just mentioning

I had fought this fight with my Subaru. Had lines popping whatever the weakest hose was. In your case, it just may be bubbling along with a LOT of air since you replaced the cap and water 5 minutes ago. I wouldn't call that a bad Head Gasket yet. On my Subaru it was, but that had other signs.. not air coming out of the cooling system when there was obviously air in there.

They are generally good cars but you got what you paid for. It's probably at least a 3 owner car and every new owner does less to maintain it. Eventually an owner pays little for it and drives it until it dies and gets another low cost car and does it again. I know people like that. You can see other than maybe oil changes this car was not maintained.
