From the day I started gaming as a kid, all I did is buy pirated games (in my country it cost like 2 dollars) As I grew up and becam teenager, I started pirating. When I graduated, I felt that scamming these companies is not fair. I started buying games based on hype. It took 3 years for me to completly loose faith in the triple A companies. I gradually started losing the appetite to gaming. I taught it was because i'm getting older. But after watching this, I knew that it had something to do with the feeling of me getting scammed. And that is exactly why I always, ALWAYS, buy games when they're on sale. Never full price. And for the love of god NEVER on cosole. Always PC. Console gaming is a scam through and through, and it's not even better than PC, it's just a little bit more cinematic thanks to the ability to control walking speeds on your characters lol. The only game I purchased full price, EVER, was the Lego Star Wars the Skywalker Saga, and I'm considering doing it for Elden Ring and Resident Evil 4. Those 3 are the only ones so far who have deserved it from my standpoint. And then there are games I will NEVER buy. Sims for example; who the fuck spends 500-800 for a game that is not even the best quality. Or the Cities Skylines expansions; same coment, like FRRRRR.
@thebufoon Жыл бұрын
@@davide.schiaffino Accept it or not but the fact is consoles helped many gaming industries to grow with selling their games and improve themselves while it lasted. Not all people in the world have up to 2-5K $ to build the PC just to run way more consumable games. Consoles are cheaper and many choose it because it can last up to 6-8 years which PC can't. Plus they get subscriptions like PS+ and Game Pass to play free games. And not to mention how graphic cards skyrocketed into ridiculous price in last 5 years because of bitcoin miners and now becoming bigger. Yeah, i don't think everyone wants a PC that takes half of desk space in 2040 because of graphic cards becoming much bigger each year we going further. Gaming would be long time dead if consoles didn't exist as seen before PS1 and Dreamcast how games didn't bring anyone's attention than small group of people on this planet. This is why PC is called as Workstation rather than gaming device. Has way less sales than consoles and only good for modding. You can get viruses and be hacked (just look how CDPR was hacked & stole CP77 footages GTA 6 got leaked) but on consoles you never do get a single virus. Also i loved The Sims 2-3 but Stuff expansions are mediocre (except cars and some clothes). Rockstar now does that in their GTAO.

The case was not won as far as I can tell. According to The Guardian and Hollywood Reporter, as of August 2023, it was thrown out--although it _had_ been confirmed in December 2022 by another judge that it is Possible to sue a company for a deceptive trailer. The reason this particular case was later thrown out is pretty funny, actually. _But in an order dated 28 August, Wilson tossed the suit out, agreeing with Universal that the case was a “self-inflicted injury” after Woulfe revealed in an amendment he had rented Yesterday a second time in 2023, this time on Google Play. The plaintiff explained he did so to claim new “misrepresentations on Google”, as De Armas was listed as a cast member in Yesterday in Google searches._ (Sian Cain, The Guardian, Aug 30 2023) the dude rented the movie twice

I think one of the most common reason was left out. Many play video games to escape this crappy world, to ignore the crap and let yourself distract from what is not right or not changeable in your current point in life. Games can create a place you feel happy and creates an environment you normally only dream about at nights. Life itself isn't great that's why people since the dawn of time always created something magical or mystical to bring some spice in our lives. Stories, Books, Movies, Drawings, Theater etc. All that is to create something we want but do not have in irl.

My main take away is that everything would be better if gamers stopped preordering games, unless you are a video game reviewer I really don't see any reason to want the game in day 1, of course this thought becomes a little more complicated if you think in multi-player games.

I can't argue that CDPR lied to us with Cyberpunk 2077 features and overall state of the game but we as gamers are not blameless we wanted Cyberpunk to be the biggest game of all time with the most content ever after success of The Witcher 3. There was endless list of features that community wanted and expected not only from game trailers alone so after most of them didn't made it into the final product we expressed our disappointed in looking for the smallest things that didn't work. I still remember people talking shit about NPCs walking the streets without any purpose they're there to make city not feel empty after all and they do it just fine. The sad part is that people were so angry that they forget to enjoy the game (if they can of course - PS4 and XB1 version should never be a thing) I sped 360 hours in this single player world without mods and completing the story 3 times. I'm on my 4th playthrough skipping all cutscenes but enjoying combat and walking down streets watching stunning views. It's not perfect by any means but thanks to devs not giving up on the game updates and support it's a lot better than it was at lunch. I hope that incoming Phantom Liberty DLC will be good addition to the game story cause I main storyline was to short for me. So sad that because of terrible decisions made by management huge amount of players never will know how good it is. And to everyone still thinking Cyberpunk is trash just forget about you want it to be and love it for what it is and it's a game with interesting story, beautiful environment design and combat variety.

One thing is saying "the best cup of coofee in the world" (matter of opinion), "the ultimate driving experience" (again, matter of opinion), but another thing is showing a clip of a movie/game and not being actual footage of the product you're going to pay for, they're actually deceiving and lying to the consumer. In those cases, there should be a MANDATORY warning saying "not actual footage of the final product" or something in the same lines.

The team had 10M GBP budget, cut almost all marketing doing it via social media and dev diaries. Managed to create a game using a unique subject as focal point. And they succeeded with ROI they got earlier than expected, awards, good sales and good reception of the game.

One thing I've always hated is cinematic trailers that show nothing of the gameplay. I love trailers that look cool, but don't even come close to how cool the game is, like Vintage Story. All in all, I won't buy anything from a major studio until I've pirated it first to see how it plays, if they don't have a demo, or have loved something they've already released like Spiderweb, Runic, or Unknown Worlds. My favorite way to find a game is on Twitter. The devs publish short gameplay clips or screenshots long before it's released... though waiting can suck... lol

Hype is the biggest issue with any advertising. Just look at vehicle adverts, you hardly see the vehicle, and the small print, tells you that the model shown may not be available in your area, and the vehicle shown is always top of the range. I am longer in the tooth and it took me sometime to realise, that you don't need every product aimed at you. Over the past few years you see so many bad after tastes from AAA studios, but people will pre order them again and again. thats a cheap thumbnail. Johnny Silverhand always shows up in high quality. And the trailers dont look like theyre pushing custom cars, theyre showing the stats of the different types of cars. And you have to be really dumb by saying the immersive CGI isnt using a train in the game. Its part of the story to depict the people's everyday lives in CGI compared to gameplay. Cyberpunk did this, but so does ElderScrolls Online showing massive open worlds and battlefields. Its never meant to give you a preview of a game, its to enhance the lore as its really seen outside gaming limits. I for one appreciate the CGI movies for my games. If you dont, thats your loss. 7:11 it’s funny you say this is what happens when the “smartest”people are commissioned to sell a product. I’ve always seen it as these people are willing to sell out humanity to make a small group way more profitable.

I don't think puffery applies here. Showing stuff in a trailer that isn't then in the game isn't "so outlandish" that no sane person would believe it. Promising specific mechanics and not delivering them certainly isn't puffery.

"World's best cup of coffee" is subjective and therefore not misleading. But a game trailer advertising things that aren't in the game itself is misleading.

📌I stopped believing in trailers after Assassin's Creed 3. The trailer shows you darting across the battlefield assassinating generals, but the climax of the game was nothing like that. It was move to the left battalion and press x to fire, move to the right battalion and press x to fire, move to the left battalion and press x to fire, and finally move to the right battalion and press x to fire.

Plus points for Leroy Jenkins. I have fond memories from when I was young and my dad showed it to me.

Nobody remembers the StarCraft trailers… we just played the game. Never saw a trailer for StarCraft until now

We based this on previous games by the same people. We didn’t need a trailer… Now they need to lie because the game doesn’t exist, it’s crap. Just rehashed crap to get u to buy more crap…
@pazsion Жыл бұрын
Nintendo and sega and Sony never had to make fake trailers and lie at all, because it was actually the game! What was shown was in the game and it’s still cool to this day… I wish bad games to fail and not make billions… only to make a series of bad games with more lies that get bought up. This is insanity. Why are you buying games without knowing what’s in the game?

the thing with advertising i feel is that it mainly works on those that actually have any interest in it. like me for example. when they show a new game i want in game, for me some cinematic is just kind of dull. And im not really sure that pic made me click this vid. more like the actual title.

Cyberpunk 2077 turned out to be a great game, though, if taken out of the context of the trailers and consumer expectations. Problem with it is that it was a development hell and that CDPR promised more than they could deliver in a realistic perspective.

I can not imagine playing cyberpunk 2077 on ps5 I mean most of the immersion is from mods on pc. U can literally eat food at vendors and drink at bars with ur friends. There is so many immersive mods on pc that it makes cyberpunk 2077 a completely different game from the console version it’s ridiculous.

I rather play it on pc if I had one than console least modders are giving people what they want
