Today we're talking Base Maps! A Base map, as the name suggests is a base to start working from in order to get your engine up and running as quickly and easily as possible. A Base Map has as much information entered as possible, leaving only the settings unique to your setup left to add in. I looked at your Base Map list.... Under Ford, all I saw was 4L Barras. I know a great Engine, but I'm in the U.S. and work on older, less mainstream stuff... Do you have Base Maps for 4.6L 2V V8, 96-04? Or 3.8-4.2L V6, 96-06?

Why did I sense a bit of sarcasm when he said LS is everyone’s favorite engine? It’s ok I get it. But eventually you will have to accept the universal truth that the LS V8 is the greatest performance engine ever created. I hear the GM engineers that designed were not really the guys who created it, but merely channels for God himself to bestow onto mankind this wonder of the universe. I want a Haltech ecu controlling gods creation in my project.

I’d like to see the tuning process from start to finish just to get an understanding of what order I should be tuning my ECU, and also what’s absolutely essential to configure and what’s not a necessity (redundant sensors). The videos are great and informative but they’re a little too scattered and not so involved.

Set the VE map to 70% and ignition map to 20° BTDC. Pretty much anything will fire if you've got the injectors and triggering configured correctly ;)

HALTECH needs to do a proper video on cold start and how to set it up and demonstrate it in all different conditions and how it works to get the car started and idle as to anyone desire. I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR 4 MONTHS! on this bmw turbo conversion to get it started and running as I like, 1st start after three weeks ran perfect with leaking intake gasket just idle very high, 2nd start after head gasket change wrong gasket i may add and intake gasket custom made and fix, after just had looong cranks had loads of very violent back fires before it ran then dies, 3rd start ran after extreme long crank then dies as throttle been applies, now wont start tries to now getting clear flood and fuel limitations and also the odd violent back fire, tps loosing calibration some times donno how voltages within ranges! am about to give up i think they just way over engineered the elite 2500 sometimes things are best kept simple till what needs to be added can be added like hondadata. fuel is there spark and compression, using 335i igniters as they are plug and play, chineese rods, 4g63 85mm weisco pistons 1 mm block over bore to fit, 340lph fuel pump with check valve, knock off areomotive fpr, wbc2 controller, elite2500, 875cc injectors, mack boost controller, aem meth kit, 38mm wastegate, 50mm bov, turbo is a borg warner like gtx55 off a man truck, using BMw x5 throttle body works100%, had 4g63 intake custom to fit. was just about to do the rear diff conversion in the e46 to e60 m5 axles and propshaft and was also going to put some darton performance sleeves in block with some s54 valve springs to up the revs to 10k. its a one off custom project I decided to do in my weekends when not working. Engine n42b20 (valvertronic but disabled) this thing is pissing me off need some drastic help. the elite 2500 is a brilliant ecu with its functions but can be very confusing to operate when starting to get running, lot of the features is excellent just a shame tourque management feature are not full 100 like the 2500T ecu, base maps that are preset works fine just may only have to lower and increase rpm to suit application, adjust drigger settings and fuel and ignition. it is one smart piece of gadget am well pleased with my 2500 just a bit hard to navigate at times for the haltech is a new learning curve for me but like it 100% all the way done think I will go other brands except aem. it is shame bmw can communication is not present in 2500 and could be preset to work with factory clusters

Thanks Scott great vid as always I'm slowly working my way toward downloading tuneecu which was used to tune my bike just so I can check fault logs & save a copy of the map should I need it, I'm not good with tech of any sort I'm a bit intimidated by it & don't know of a tuner in my area who uses this software. Question I'm about to do an engine swap on my bike same engine just less km's same set up, are there any issues with just plugging the original harness & ecu into the fresher motor.

Hi Scott. Fucking love your channel, and your content. BUT where is the BMW folder? I know they arent that popular in Aus, but still. Im from Denmark and the best ECU i can get with easily available support is an Elite 2500. Its still one of the most expensive ones, especially when you consider all the crap you need besides the ECU. But still cheaper than a Syvecs, which pretty much has 0 forum support like yours.
