Titans: *shocked pikachu face*
@IchHassePasswoerter6 жыл бұрын
Well, Mor Ardain is said to have the highest population on Alrest. Additionally, Niall mentions implicitly that an army of 5'000 men is very large (as: a single force tasked with taking anobjective). Considering that a "very large army" in that context can range from 1% to 5% of the population, that would mean that the population of Mor Ardain ranges from between 100'000 to 500'000 people. That's the best estimate I can give you on that.* Now, we know that Mor Ardain can comfortably sustain such a population at the time the Titan is fertile. As such, we can caculate the minimum size of the Titan's usable surface. Using that number, we can then calculate the overall size of the Titan. *even that figure is generous. In WW2 scales, 1% would mean, for Germany, an army of 800'000 men. The army lost at Stalingrad (98'000) was considered a huge loss. That was less than an eighth of 1% of the German population at the beginning of the war.
@IchHassePasswoerter6 жыл бұрын
First, give me an explanation as to why those numbers are supposedly bullshit. They are in-game numbers and real world references.* Second, you do the bullshit yourself by saying that they'd never fit.... when we don't know how big the Titans are and the entire purpose of the thought experiment was to find out that very thing. Please engage your brain before you type. *Before you start bitching at me that the real life references don't work: The militaries of both Uraya as well as Mor Ardain are very strongly implied to be standing armies with volunteer membership (hence why Mor Ardain does recruitmen, not conscription). Hence, no mobilising 20% of the population to fight a few battles and then disband like it was in ancient and medieval times. We're dealing with industrialised professional armies, not hastily conscripted levies. If your comment meant the real life numbers I used: The population of Germany at the beginning of WW2 was around 80 million. 80'000'000 : 100 = 800'000. The troops lost at Stalingrad, considered a very sizeable force, were 98'000. That's a little less than an eighth of 800'000. So if those 5'000 *Niall* (you know, the Emperor of Mor Ardain, commander in chief of its army and therefore knowledgeable about the army's numbers and capabilities) mentions are 1%, then the entire population is 500'000. If it's an eighth of 1%, the entire population amounts to 4 million. If we go with 5%, the population still amounts to at least 100'000. Again, if it's an eighth of 5%, it's 800'000. As you can see, my first comment went with the lower reasonable estimate.

A hundred thousand?!
@IchHassePasswoerter6 жыл бұрын
Well yeah. There's a reason why they are called continents. Emperor Hugo mentions in the Torna DLC that Mor Ardain has several cities (500 years before the start of XC2). By the time XC2 starts, even Gormott, the Titan with (presumably) the lowest population has several settlements. Nia mentions that Torigoth is Gormott's *biggest* city, meaning there are others. A hundred thousand people for Mor Ardain is the lowest reasonable estimate I can think of.

Firstly, spoiler warning for Torna. This comment is based on info from the cutscene shown last month during the gameplay demo, which is "about halfway" through the game. Firstly, Torna's titan appears to be substantially larger than the other Titans in the scene, and it is also capable of killing multiple Titans with some kind of energy beam it shoots from its mouth in a single sweeping shot. Another important detail to note is that the slain Titans dissolve in the way that all slain monsters, Blades and small Titans do, which also indicates that Torna's Titan is highly unusual, because it has a corpse that has lasted 500 years.

Since Titans are similar to blades, even possessing core crystals, I think we can assume that Titans are as robust as blades in a scalable sense.

I think its actually possible to calculate at least Tantal's general size accurately. In the story, the characters are required to hike both the entire diameter of the Genbu Drifts, not to mention about a quarter of the Drifts' circumference over the pillars, plus additional distance to climb down them - all within "just over three hours" (as per Zeke's statement). Using the heights given by official sources, we should be able to determine the characters' movement speed, and then we can determine the maximum distance they could have traveled in the allotted time. Using those numbers, we can get a rough estimate of Genbu's real, Canon size. Using Genbu's Canon size, we can then get the other titans using the same sort of method, adjusting the characters' speed in-game for what their Canon speed would be in Tantal.

Hmmm I'm gonna have to disagree with you on Titans only having mountain level durability. We see several times multiple titans tank direct ether attacks during Amaltus's attack on the world tree. I think they range from large island level to country level durability, possibly continent level for genbu.
@naberiusbuster34896 жыл бұрын
We see Mor Ardain put a large dent into the World Tree, so large Titan durability shouldn’t be that far off from the durability of the World Tree, which is something that we might be able to make a guess at. Why would Genbu have continent durability when it can’t stand up to the deepest depths of the Cloud Sea? Besides, Genbu hasn’t shown the ability to pull it’s head into it’s shell, so it is just as vulnerable as everyone else. Uraya is based on a whale so it would likely be the hardest one to take down due to having a sturdier skull than most. The Titans being living creatures with vital organs would make them easier to destroy than normal landmasses. The Titans should be capping out at small or medium island level tops.

well the station has a geosynchronous orbit so it needs a hight of around 35000 kilometer, not just 800. with just 800km it would either not be geosynchron (so there couldnt be a lift to it) or it would crash on the earth because it would be to slow to stay in the orbit.... So that would mean, if we take the dialog about be able to see the titans from that orbit but have problems to recognize them, whey would need to have the size of puerto rico
@kyris_276 жыл бұрын
There is a second, high orbit station, which is at a geostationary orbit which allows the first orbit station to exist.
@Annishark5 жыл бұрын
@@kyris_27 That' wouldn't work that way. the second station is to balance the worldtree tower, so the center of the mass is in the right high, not to lift the station into a geosynchronous orbit. I think you misunderstood it that they made a geosyncron satelite and build the station around a kable between the satelite and earth, but then the station would just crash into the earth because it couldnt keep the orbit So yes the station need to be around 35000 kilometers
@Nuvendil4 жыл бұрын
@@Annishark Actually no, but to have a station lower would require a counterweight farther out into space at the end of the lift. URAYA : less than 5000 (most likely 3-4000) people it’s not very populated and people only live in the capital and a small village and has an army smaller than mor ardain which can’t even get to 5000 in the army also vhandam stated as long as your alive in uraya you’re in the war somehow even mercenaries are involved in some way I mean literally every one in the capitals job is a war job and the women are also involved by healing or curing men during battle so around 4000 people Leftheria: less than 500 the only place people live on is the village and that has a declining population I’m not gonna count the ports because people aren’t actually living there just a rest stop plus when Adam led the survivors of torna there were only 20-40 with him according to Wikipedia which could’ve increased but gramps stated it’s severely declined these past few years also it’s a village and a large village normally has less than a 800 and this village is very small and on an extremely small titan so it’s safe to assume less than at most 400-500 in total for all ports houses and villages and military settlements and adventurers and I’m including the survivors of indol as well Genbu: a titan which has little to no resources dying people though it’s size could be the size of rode island the population must be declining there were only 40 survivors of torna and first after Adam died his uncles children led a few people to genbu and was tropical at first but indol ate it away imagine Norway’s population in the 1500s crammed into rode island I calculated Norway area divided into rode island and did the same for Norway’s population into the area and got 1,229 people at most Mor ardain consider the fact that this is a walking giant miles tall so people have to go around on the rocky sturdy parts of its body like the hair and people can only live on places such as its legs when it’s bendover in low tide so people can scale across this titan has the most advanced race as sophisticated and slightly more advanced than us remember in chapter 8 you could see the barrier between air and space so indoline ships could not make it across the point of mor ardain s head today it takes 64 miles up to reach space so mor ardain is 64 miles mor ardain as Niall states doesn’t have enough but is very close soldiers on the ground wise is close to 5000 people that are soldiers with guns on the ground the army in total is much bigger maybe even up to 20000 and this titan is way bigger than the others combined so it’s safe to assume that the titan has a population on its arms and and hair up to 25000 people it could’ve had millions of people at one time but quickly Tran out of food due to power and food consumption and began rotting away and people began to abandon the titan and head for other titans the people that stayed had a mass decline and death rate due to diminishing resources Gormott this titan is only famous and populated due to mor ardain and is running out of resources and crops are growing terribly due to the influx of ardainians and people live near every corner of the titan and has many cities we haven’t explored whereas mor ardain has two major cities so hundreds of thousands people could potentially live here Indol: it’s the same size as the Vatican literally the Vatican isn’t even a town and just has historical and religious museums and inns indol and the Vatican are practically the same size indols slightly bigger in size in terms of exploring and has a town and a big religious center with museums and inns so maybe 2 or 3 vaticans so 2-3000 people many people from dying titans also came here so yeah and it ate away other titans resources so it must have had a few thousand people including many survivors Argentum is just a bazaar that has no people living in the bazaar because a bazaar is jus ra collection of open shops there’s only a small little area for nopon comprised of small huts on 1 floor half of that floor is another port so no person stays there forever it’s just a rest stop for selling to get an extra buck or buying while on your way to your parent titan and family like an airport Temperantia: there are a few terraforming camps to terraform the titan and a military camp sent by indol to investigate what indols extremely advanced ancestors way more advanced than even the tornans and us today left behind and one day will become habitable and indol will reclaim their tech currently only two camps are on the titan so less than 30 people on the titan but I imagine that since temperantia joins with elysium that it’s automatically terraformed and indoline come back to the titan as it’s the biggest no doubt of all titans even more than torna Two people after indol fell fell onto the world tree and two other people as well stayed on the world tree before that happened too to make shop as well as mikhail so five people actually are crazy enough to be on the world tree Torna is smaller than temperantia if you with hacks break the wall of temperantia or jump over it you’ll explore triple the area of the main field of temperantia But anyways torna has the area of gormott aletta and the first province of torna as well and then then the size of the left arm / main field and city of moraradain so 100000+ people

I dont think you would have to scale the titans size like in xenoblade 1. With the exeption of mor ardain and indol, (in temperentia the other side of the wall is still moddled,so it could be measured by comparing the moddles) the in game areas cover the whole titan, unlike xenoblade 1 where lots of the titan can't be reached (1 arm, 1 leg, the chest for the bionis, and most of the mechonis)
@Sheppart924 жыл бұрын
Even in Xenoblade 2 you cant reach much of the Titans. As an Example, Mor Ardain. The Main Capital is on the Left Shoulder of the Titan, so we dont see much more then the Things on his Left Shoulder. But later on ( I did it first after beating the Game) when you talk to someone in the Lower Parts of the Palace, someone says that most of the Salvaging Products came from another Big City that is on the Right Shoulder of the Titan, which also has a Big Garnison (and it is the 2nd Biggest City on the Mor Ardain Titan) But due to the Attack of the Torna Mech, at least the Garnison was almost entirely wiped out. Gormott, Uraya and Genbu ( Tantal) are the Same. You hear that there are other Small Citys etc. but you only can explore a Small Portion of the Titans at all.

Repeat this with the deepest clouds and oceanic depth for the maximum and the smallest for the minimum. If you don't want to calculate it yourself, then ask someone who knows how to get said numbers to do it for you. It makes things simpler when everything is on earth. 11,394 meters is what I got from my calculations, but something tells me I'm wrong. My main problem with their height is... Titans like Mor Ardain and Gormott are walking in or on the cloudsea. Are they actually walking on the surface of the Land of Morytha? If so how is it still in a relatively good shape? Seing Torna lying dead in the lands of Morytha one should think they walk on its surface. But then their legs have to be reeeeaaaaallly fucking long because the cloudsea seems to be pretty deep? This just nags me so much :,D
@Eman524516 жыл бұрын
I think you might be overestimating the depth of the cloud sea. Our ocean is on average about 3.5km and 10 km at the absolute deepest. Meanwhile, using gormott for an example, if luxin’s estimate for surface area is accurate then even using the lower estimate of 200 square km for gormott’s ‘livable’ surface area and assuming gormott’s proportions are equivalent to say a white tailed deer, then my hastily done math would estimate gormott’s legs as about 5 km long.
@Eman524516 жыл бұрын
