Dear Paul, when animals are rescued and brought to our BIG CATS SANCTUARIES, they might be released into a temporary enclosure first, where their health can be closely monitored. Their final enclosure, however, is an adequate habitat for our big cats, large outdoor enclosures are built on natural ground, encompassing minimum 1 hectare with natural vegetation, diverse terrain, pools, hiding spaces, climbing and scratching opportunities and resting platforms. Hi Frederic, thanks for your comment. We are deeply saddened about the sudden and unexpected loss of one of our most beautiful lion souls. Saeed, our youngest lion at LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary & Lodge collapsed beginning of May in his enclosure and passed away instantly. The previous days as well as some hours earlier Saeed appeared completely normal when he received his food and did not show any signs of discomfort or illness. We have requested an autopsy to find out what can have caused Saeed’s sudden death, but we have to assume that he must have had an underlying condition possibly since birth which remained undetected on the medical check he had last year.
