How big is Redemption? Our singing says it's small.

Phil Wickham's praise and worship song, "Living Hope" is great on many levels, but should we be singing it in Church? Not only is it unsuitable for gathered worship because of the individual personal pronouns, it is also unsuitable in corporate worship because worshipers may build a faulty theology while singing it as the Body of Christ.

I liked your comments on the “me focus” of a lot of congregational songs. I’m curious as to what are one of your favourite congregational songs made in the last 20 years and one (or more) hymns you like the least?

Good question! For the hymn I'd say I Serve a Risen Saviour because of the line: “You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart!” The evidence for a living Jesus is a lot bigger that the subjective--the feelings.

If I remember correctly, two that I used as exemplars of good songs were "My Lighthouse" by Rend Collective and "Blessed be Your Name."
