The psycho Pharmaceutical industry started with severe mental illnesses. They created thorazine. Antipsychotics make big differences in some people's lives. There just isn't a lot of people at that level of need. They make way more money on antidepressants and ADHD drugs. The people with mild issues are there cash cow. Most of the people who have severe mental illnesses can barely afford them. They are hard to treat and it is just easier to go after mostly normal people with some depression.

I'm 76 and take no medications at all. 20 years ago the Veteran's Administration had me on all kinds of medications, for depression, PTSD, high blood pressure and pain. I quit that nonsense as one medication always caused more problems. And in 2013 I left the US and left all my problems behind. My problems were all environmental and situational and no medications will ever correct the causes.

During 2016, when my son died on the road here in the Kingdom of Belgium, I made an appointment with a psy at the flamish hospital close to my house : AZ VUB, asking for help. The psychiatrist told me exactly this : " The less you take chemich drugs, the better you feel. You must grieve". I said,: "what? But doctor, I go in the woods at night and I scream, I run, I scratch the ground, please, help me ! " He answered : "You scratch the ground to find the love you've lost, keep doing it. Don't stop and come back to talk with me any time. I'm here for you. Call me any time but don't start with chem. drugs. You need time to grieve". We talked for an hour and did it every week. What a wonderful doctor. After a cupple of months, we became friends. Thanks God, I met the right psychatrist.

I was a foster kid and starting at age 11 the state of Tennessee placed me on a triad of strong psychiatric medications. By the time I aged out at 18 I had taken over 28 different psychiatric meds. My 18th bday I signed myself out of state care in 2000. It’s no wonder, I succumbed to the opioid epidemic and by 2003 I was on methadone(preferred treatment at that time). I was stuck on that until 2009 when I switched to suboxone. I was a slave to that until may 2023 when I flew to Mexico and detoxed with a sacred plant medicine used for 1000’s of years called Ibogaine. Its a psychedelic that helped me get to the root of my trauma(foster care). I am 10 months clean from being on opioid maintenance medication for the last 20 years and my gratitude overflows.

I went to an NP just for a physical when I was 22. I had just gone through my first breakup and told her I felt depressed and anxious. I walked out after a 10 minute check up with a prescription for Ativan and Prozac. My dad found out within a week what I was taking and made me stop. So thankful that he did

I went to a psych doc and told him my problems. My problems were all coworker related. Never once did he suggest that I find a different job. Instead, he said the new hip and trendy thing is to take an "anti-depressant cocktail". I asked him what that was and he said that it was multiple anti-depressants taken at the same time. I knew in my gut that this was wrong, so I QUIT my job and found a new psych doc who ordered talk therapy twice per week.

People underestimate the power good nutrition has on their health. I suffered from anxiety, panic attacks, acid reflux, headaches, joint pain, and a few skin issues for more than 25 years. All of it went away when I started limiting my sugars and carbohydrates. Food affects mental and physical health. After my partner of 17 years died, I was referred to a psychiatrist for depression. During my treatment period, I was on several prescriptions (not simultaneously). I experienced several physical side effects, but what I didn’t realize at the time was that I was experiencing drastic personality changes. I started using credit cards excessively, made very poor life decisions and did things that I would usually never do. I drove myself into bankruptcy, sold my townhouse without any consideration for the financial outcome and couldn’t hold down a job. Then I decided to stop all of my medications because of the physical side effects. It wasn’t until after a month of being prescription free did I fully comprehend the radical personality changes wrought by those drugs. I was horrified by my behavior!!! Never again! It’s been over 24 years since that period of my life and I avoid prescription medications of any kind. I am 73 years old and have never felt better. 😊

Drink a small amount in water or swish around your mouth. It has antibacterial, anti inflammatory. It’s amazing for everything from colds to toothache, cuts and grazes. Exactly how methadone works, put me on that after being prescribed by Oxycodone for nerve pain. After being on the one dose on & off for around 20 years & needed the dosing adjusted they refused so just took me straight off it which of course nearly sent me mad. However they had no problems putting me on methadone & adjusting the dose. Even though this is done by the public system they had absolutely no problems asking me to give them my private health information to fund a public hospital, but there is absolutely no difference in treatment.

My brother had some many problems after quitting methadone abruptly. He developed a paranoia that he had bugs under his skin. He self-medicated with cattle antibiotics, bathed in bleach, and went back to street drugs. When he went to doctors for help with the itching, he wasn’t given anything that helped, and his mental state made reasoning with him about it difficult. It ruined his quality of life even worse than the opiates had.

Dad, 82, was on 7 medications. Eventually I weaned him off. Once off all meds he had no more nightmares, stopped blowing his nose a 100 times a day. Had no issues with alergies, high blood pressure or anything else they prescribed these drugs for, for over 15 years. He passed away at almost 89 because his heart just gave out, in his own home, quickly and peacefully.

My father in law was on benzos for 18 years. 18 YEARS. Prescribed by the same psychiatrist. He attempted to come off of them at 75 years old. And lost his mind due to the withdrawals. 2 weeks after being released from the hospital for suicidal thoughts, he committed suicide. I 100% blame his psychiatrist.

Yes, and the psychiatrist won't face any punishment for what he/she did to your FIL because he/she didn't break the law. Why not? Because there is no law to break, just how the Am Psych Assn wants the law to remain. It's a giant legal loophole that allows psychiatrists to avoid any kind of punishment for what they do to people. The DEA says, "Benzodiazepines are depressants that produce sedation and hypnosis, relieve anxiety and muscle spasms, and reduce seizures." There are homeopathic medicines that cure depression and anxiety + others that cure the cause of muscle spasms and seizures + others that are calming. My homeopath is Elaine Lewis, easy to find online. She cured my family member of "incurable" "bipolar with psychosis." I hope you'll read my other posts here on this thread.

Psychiatric medications are based upon theory. None of it has ever been proven. And the majority were created to treat other things then used for psychiatry. In Latin America they do not prescribe opioids except extreme and rare measures. Depression remains a big concern, especially among the poor. Everyone needs a good future and purpose in life. Oh, illicit drugs will fetch more than 200 times the price in the US. So wile present there really isn't much unless sold and used to American and Xanadian tourists.

Paxil is known (well, in circles where such things are discussed) as being particularly dangerous coming AND going. Or, as I told my late husband, “If you weren’t already taking it, I wouldn’t want you to start; but since you’ve been taking it for 10 years, it would be just as dangerous for you to stop”. Some dodo-brained psychiatrist suddenly stopped it during his last psychiatric hospitalization, and he spent a week puking and pooping; came back and took 30 minutes to make a 5 minute drive because he kept thinking he’d run over imaginary people… I’d never recommend it to anyone. Prozac is considered the safest of the SSRI’s, mostly because it takes so long to leave your body it creates a gradual ramping-up and ramping-off all on its own, like Valium does for benzos (as explained in the Ashton Manual, available for free online); this effect also makes it helpful for tapering off any SSRI.

I have a friend who hurt his back and can"t work , he is in pain constantly. Because he can't work he got very depressed, he went to a psychiatrist who wanted to give him medication for depression. He didn't want to take it because he doesn't like mind altering drugs and wanted to deal with his problem naturally. He was told by his psychiatrist that if he didn't take the anti depressant medication his insurance payments would stop.... He gets the prescriptions written for him but doesn't take the drugs. He IS dealing with it with diet and natural alternatives.

We need cholesterol to be healthy which is why our body will make it if we don't get enough thru our diet. And you are correct that doctors will prescribe statins without discussing any other option. I had a very nice doctor want to put my 90 yo mom on statins "just in case". We had a good conversation and I said "No, she is going to die of something and I am not worried about her heart." He did accept my decision but the fact that he suggested it at her age told me a lot.

Former nurse here. This is hands down the absolute best documentary I've seen. My own family doctor had prescribed a medication for me and obviously, I immediately asked about possible side effects. She only mentioned one, which would happen with long term use. I took it for a few years then found information on just how dangerous it was if taken long term. I was furious and quit taking it. It infuriates me to see how doctors and Big Pharma treat us, and I deeply feel for everyone who has suffered because of incompetence and greed.

I'm an addict, in recovery 14 years, my doctor knew that, I was having bad pain and they wanted to put me on Gabapentin. I specifically asked if it was addictive and if there could be withdrawal and was told emphatically "NO! Definitely not!" Let me tell you I've come off a lot of drugs in my day, I have NEVER had withdrawal like that! I almost unalived myself! It was horrible! They tell you whatever they have to to get you to take it. I am terrified of any new drug at this point. I'd rather suffer the pain be it emotionally or physically than take my chances with whatever chemicals they're trying to push. I take Tylenol or Advil if I have pain and I take medicine to manage a thyroid problem, other than that I don't take anything these days and have no plans of changing that any time soon. Edit: The addiction was started by doctors as well. I broke my back and was prescribed opiates for pain. This was during the opiate crisis when doctors were handing them out like candy. I was told I had nothing to worry about as long as I took it as prescribed. Another lie!

The pain was almost unbearable and the anxiety and depression were just as bad. A couple years ago I experienced a rejection and went into a depression. I could not sleep. I had a hard time eating. I thought about going to see a doctor about it. Instead, I sat in front of a mirror and talked as if I were talking to the person who had really hurt me. I did that every day for three months. Pretty soon I realized that I didn't need to talk to that person anymore and I was able to sleep and eat again normally. This worked for me, but it does point out how important it was to talk it out. I made little realizations every session that overall helped me a lot.

For someone with Asperger's syndrome i was on all sorts of antidepressants and an anxiety medications. Some helped some really changed who I was thanks to my therapist noticing the differences in my personality. I had my dr take me off it. I was on zyprexa prozac other anti depressants. But over a year ago Ive been off my anti depressants and i havent gone back on them since. But ive been on doxepin for my insomnia. I have been on them for 10 years i cant sleep without them.

As a social worker for 35 yrs I began talking about this exact topic in 1993. People ran from me. I have been doing natural (evidenced based) medicine showing all my research on my website. Since 2006 you cannot do your own medical billing, you must work for a group or get refused malpractice insurance and cannot get referrals. Also I was told I must use their evals which force me accept a Dx- I can no longer do my own Dx? and then get fired for not prescribing enough meds. The threats are insane.

This is true. When I was in high school in the early 90s, the kids I went to school with and myself had some rough times. Some kids would smoke cigarettes, some smoked pot, many like myself just put on some sad music and cried and felt the pain or we'd talk to friends. It was unheard of to get a prescription from a doctor unless a kid had severe mental illness diagnosis like schizophrenia. I went to a birthday party for my friend's daughter not long ago and the parents were talking about the medications their 10 year old kids were all taking.

I had an MRI with contrast in 2021 when I was 20 y/o. The scan was ordered because I had developed a rare syndrome that wasn't disclosed to me from a medication my dermatoligist perscribed me. By the time the MRI came around the syndrome was healing and I didn't want it, but my dad talked me into it. I went and they told me I was getting contrast. I had never heard of it before nor knew anything about it. I read the consent form front to back and it raised no alarms. Basically, it just said that if my kidneys were fine that I should have no worries. My kidneys were tested just a few weeks prior unrelated to the scan and were fine. I asked the staff a lot of questions about it's safety and they only told me assuring things, I later found out weren't very truthful. I was injected with the contrast and I felt fine just after, but as the week went on I started becoming very sick. I started zoning out all the time and having headaches. Around a week later my health just crashed and hasn't been the same since. MRI contrast is made out of a toxic heavy metal, gadolinium, and it retains in everyone injected the FDA came out and admitted in 2022. I didn't detox the metal and so it started settling into my entire body. As the metal settled into my brain, organs, skin, bones, etc. I developed severe neuroligical issues, brain damage, memory loss, anxiety, depression, burning brain headaches, tinnitus (ringing in ears), MCAS (would break out in hives and black out), bone pain so bad I could hardly walk, feeling like my entire body was vibrating and being burned from the inside out, severe pancreatic insufficency, liver damage, etc. I went to doctors in the weeks following my mri about my concerns and they all just wrote me off as crazy and wouldn't order the gadolinum test that I was begging for them to order to see if I was poisoned. Around 3 weeks after my MRI I had an MCAS attack so bad and began to lose consciousness so I called 911 and told them what was happening. They paramedics arrived, but by that time the hives had gone away and I felt more stable. I still wanted to be checked out so I went with them to the hospital and told them what I believed to be happening. They made me think they belived me then walked me to the back of the ER and told me to wait. I thought it was strange and then it hit me that they musn't believe me and they didn't. They put me in a psych hold and tried to force me to take psychiatric medications against my will and held me in a psych unit for days saying I was schizophrenic and everything I was saying was a delusion.... I begged them just to order the gadolinium test to prove that I was wrong and they wouldn't.. When I got out I managed to find a dr who orderd the gadolinium test and the results came back showing my levels for the toxic metal was 21 times higher than the acceptable safe limit! The dr literally just said in response to that "take a bendryl and antihistamines and you'll be fine." In the months following I continued to suffer immensley and moved to Chicago to undergo IV treatments to try and detox the metal. I am now 23 and my health gone and the life that I once knew erased. Before getting pharma injured I had literally no health problems, was a deans list student, had just gotten accepted as a transfer student to a well-regarded business program, volunteered weekly, loved spending time in nature with my dog going to dog parks and on long nature walks, enjoying the simple things in life, gardening, planning hopes and dreams for my future, exercising, eating very healthy, didn't drink, etc. I was the picture of good health before I was pharma injured. Now I wouldn't even consider myself to be a shell of the person I once was because that person was killed by not only being injured and my health taken from me, but by the gaslighting, loss, abuse, and neglect that follows being sick and sick due to a pharmacutical injury.

I was a mental health counselor and while I understand that sometimes patients need medication but almost all psychopharmacology has bad long term side effects. I've had problems with depression myself and have probably been prescribed just about every antidepressant and I never felt any better. I've got a good Dr now who really went through diet changes to make and even gave me tips for growing my own vegetables and herbs. After 30 years of trying all kinds of medication, I finally feel so much better and my health is better just from changing my diet and am a vegetarian now.

Two years on Ritalin gave me disfiguring facial tics that still affect me, almost 20 years later. I never needed the drug, just faked symptoms and took is as performance enhancer/recreational/ self prescribed anti-anxiety medication. Also, I onze had one single box of Diazepam prescribed as sleeping pills for a business trip to Asia. The effect of those pills was fantastic, without any (normal) anxiety, you become as cool as Jack Nicholson. But just taking those 20 pills over a month or so resulted in very dark thoughts of fear, anxiety and depression-like symptoms / mental feebleness that lasted a long time afterwards. Can’t begin to imagine what the people in this film have been going through. My deepest and heartfelt sympathies to all of you.

I lost my leg in a car accident and one night while in the rehab hospital a new medication appeared. The nurse said the doctor (of Physical Medicine) had added an antidepressant (without any discussion). I refused it until I could talk to him. I asked why he’d prescribed it, as I was not feeling depressed, and he said, “We assume you will be.” …..!! I refused the prescription, and then I expedited my withdrawal off of pain medication, which although was very necessary at the beginning, I believe I was also over-prescribed (too many and for too long). I quickly became (and remain, 20 years later) pill free, and as a result, I was clear minded while processing the grief and trauma of the accident. 😩 …. I am so grateful I was raised to question authority!

I lost my leg to cancer but because of fathom pains I take Gabapentin, Fentanyl patches and for those feelings of electrical shocks I'll take Hydrocodone sparingly. I was prescribed an SSRI because I was withdrawn for a summer as a teenager. The SSRI made me irritable, which then led to a false diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder Type 2. I was then prescribed more drugs which kept me in a drug-induced haze which ruined 16 years of my life. Eventually, I discovered the book Anatomy of an Epidemic by Robert Whitaker and other critical psychiatry books and realized what was happening to me, so I slowly tapered off the psych drugs. I lost years of wages and a social life to these drugs. There has been no justice for what was done to me. Psychiatry and pharma are overdue for a reckoning.

When my daughter was 10, her school counselor recommended I take her to a therapist of their choice due to the fact that she wasn't paying attention in class. The first session ended in us leaving because the therapist wanted to put her on medication. I will never regret making that choice.

Im elementary school my son had a desk separate from the other kids, they called it Gage island, he knew when he needed a time out and would go sit there when he was being disruptive to the other kids I am so grateful to that teacher. He was always overly social and lacked the ability to pay attention, never medicated, now at 14 he is an honor roll student. In my opinion it was normal boy behavior not something thst we need to medicate

As an RN from the "old school", I have always been wary of "new" drugs. Years ago an MD tried to prescribe a drug to lower cholesterol but I refused. I did my own experiment and could basically alter my test numbers with diet. 100 pts. up and down within r 2 weeks. Now I am an elder and just avoid doctors. Due to elder poverty, my diet has gone screwy and I feel lousy. But......the establishment will claim I need some drugs. No damn it...I just need to eat well and not be stressed by constant demands to comply with insane people's rules !!

I’m an RN and I know it’s a bit of hypocrisy in me but I do not go to the doctors at all unless absolutely necessary (ie, broken arm, accidents, etc). I’ve already witnessed what the health system is like. Doctors should only be there for major issues and everyone really should be taking care of their health on a daily basis via diet and exercise and building coping mechanism for stress to prevent chronic issues. Accidents we cannot control, and that is what medicine and doctors should be for. The rest, we can take care of at home living holistically. I’m pregnant with my first child and I will go to the doctor to get checkups but I will not participate in extra drugs or unnecessary procedures. It’s a shame that it has to come to that but I feel the current health system is too profit oriented to be safe

Similar thing here. Often homeless, warehouse jobs, but actually quite healthy for my age, and have been living with cancer with over a decade (I was diagnosed when still in my early 30s, it had spread but the mets were dormant and the cancerologist who seemed the most competent - I saw a few of them - suggested watchful waiting as there wasn't a 'treatment' available, i.e. a molecular target). Osteoarthritis and my eyesight are bigger bothers. I focus on eating well (ie. meat, fish and vegetables, cooking frojm scratch) and getting enough sleep (not that easy when you either sleep in fields or in dorms or in a tent at a camping site). With my existing conditions and my background, I could be on 2 dozens medications, would definitely have a thyroidectomy etc. I wonder about the Princess of Wales who had surgery in January and has been 'focusing on her health' since then. Apparently she is having preventative chemotherapy now. What if she couldn't afford to stop working, like me?

I was on 6 different opioid pain meds for DDD(degenerative disc disorder), my spine is literally deteriorating. I’ve had 3 spinal surgeries, a complete lumbar fusion, a cervical fusion, and partial thoracic fusion. The bones have started deteriorating in my shoulders so I’ve had my shoulder blade and rotator cuffs repaired on both shoulders. I work out 4 days a week to strengthen and stretch my muscles. Unfortunately my spine has shifted again(scoliosis)and now I have sciatic nerve pain going down my right leg. I’m in horrible pain 24/7. My son saw that I took 80 pills a day, now I take 10 pills a day because put me on medical marijuana edibles and I couldn’t be happier.

When I was 19, I was prescribed prozac after a 20 min interview. I never took a single one, thanks in part to documentaries like this. 23:25 is extremely important to listen to. Everything in a person's life creates a chemical reaction in the brain: sunlight, laughter, the news, etc. For the vast majority of people, the environment and experiences a person has is going to determine a person's mental health. Only for a very small amount of the population is there a biological psychiatric problem that may require the use of medication

I can't begin to express my appreciation and respect for Dr Neal, she should be teaching the military the right way to engage. Sadly, I've seen very little evidence of truly skilled mental health abilities in any environment - civilian/military. It was after i lost him that i learned about the black box warnings and the effects of suicide. My baby was only 12 years old. @OurFreeSociety Yes. He committed suicide within 4 months of that medicine. From all of my research, it seems like the biggest factors linked to ADD/ADHD is floride and diet. One thing I will say, is he woke me up. I was on antidepressants for 20 years. I'm no off of all that medicine, and really don't understand why I ever needed. There's so much to be said for inner work, meditation, and learning how to channel your emotional energy. This is what our ancestors did for thousands of years.

My Father was a Vietnam Veteran. On 19 pills a day,, denied a liver by the VA and died. My mom died from an accidental overdose 2 years later. Afterward I needed mental help, and ended up on 7 prescriptions. Cold Turkey quit after 8 months. I had right side pain, they found 2 cyst in my liver, then after the test I was told the liver doesn’t cause pain.. I asked how he found it then? I swear he moved to Florida 2 weeks later. I will never return to a doctor

I am a survivor of 17 years of treatment in the U.S. psychiatric system. Usual treatment was an SSRI, Lithium and a Benzo. For me it got to the point that the medicine was lowering my serotonin level and I was gonna die I felt. I have been free of the system for a couple of decades now and and doing much better. I do not drink alcohol or smoke tobacco anymore. I do use medical marijuana now and still drink coffee. I feel so much better now, I also quit eating highly/ultra processed foods and limit my added sugar intake to no more than 25 grams a day. Don't give up you can survive it!

I was put on Thorazine at age 14 and many, many medications and hospitals and all because I was depressed from being abused. I have been diagnosed with Magical Thinking, Multiple Personality Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. I have had Shock Treatments, 4 point Restaints, Cold, wet sheets. And so many different drugs to “Make me better” and I feel like I’ve lost my entire life. Like what could I have been ? I’m not who I was supposed to be. I died inside at a very young age. Now I rarely leave my house. I recently decided, no more drugs, no more doctors. I’m 61 years old and I still feel like the lost and abused little girl I was when I was a little girl. The weirdest thing now is I have diagnosed myself with Autism and ADHD and I was sooo misunderstood all my life. How sad 😢

My son was in 3rd grade when a cognitive behavioral psychologist said he has ADHD and suggested Vyvanse. I had to mix it in orange juice and call it his "wake up" drink. The nurse called me and told me and said my son was complaining of no taste buds and upset tummy! We change it to.. I can't remember what... and he had a complete loss of appetite and was a complete zombie! Of course schools want your children to be like "ducks in a row". My son doesn't roll like that.. so they wanted him on medication! I was HORRIFIED by what was happening to my little boy, my only child. I took him off all meds and let things fly. Come spring of 5th grade... I pulled him out to homeschool. Things have never been better!

Because when you give any medication to your kids when they are young then you are responsible for the consequences. ADHD is not a disease and can't be prove with any blood test. The symptom is based on behavioral diagnosis.

The same story with my son. I fought the whole idea but eventually succumbed to meds because they wouldn't let him go to school otherwise. I watched him get skinnier and sickler. Eventually took him out of public school but he ended up going into the judicial system. He's been fighting that his whole life. He and so many of his friends fell through the cracks and when they were 18 they were taken off their meds and so many of them searched for meth on the street to mimic the medication they couldn't get anymore. All the systems are so broken. We were all just guinea pigs used and served by a monetary based broken system

This broke me so bad watching. I related to all of the military veterans as their story is also my story. I weened myself off of Effexor and I thought I was going crazy! Thought I was making it all up and overreacting. The brain zaps lasted for weekkkksssss, the fog was terrible, the mouth numbness was unbearable. But I did it. And I’m never going back! When I told my physiatrist that’s I wanted to come off, she just gave me a dead look in the face. Then when I told her I weened myself off and how bad it felt, I was presented with another death stare. She then put me on Zoloft. I took it three times and never did again. I actually have my follow up appointment with her on Thursday to “see how things are going” with the Zoloft. And I’m going to tell her to shove it! This entire documentary made me so sad and also so seen. Thank you for that ❤

It took at least three attempts, and each time the brain zaps, lethargy and nausea was so bad that I gave up and kept taking the medication I finally managed to cope with the intense withdrawal and free myself from antidepressant dependency - and I'm so happy to no longer be taking a medication for the wrong reasons

I am in U.K., when I decided to stop taking equivalent medication, I didn’t inform the practise, I just stopped taking them and threw them away. It seems you can’t really get any sense out of these drs as this is how they make their money. I am not recommending this for PTSD as I have no knowledge of this. Bless you and take care. ❤️

My Mom was on antidepressants and anti psychotic drugs for depression since the 1970s. She was never really present. She seemed distant, numb, and bereft of any emotion. I vowed never to alter my own feelings by taking such pills. I want to fully experience life’s ups and downs. As a nurse, I witnessed the effects of poly pharmacy on a daily basis. Taking 30 pills a day was routine for many elderly assisted living residents. Many of these drugs were antidepressants. Falls were quite frequent and prevalent, and the negative outcomes became an endless cycle of decline. Wine was served at meals, and this only enhanced the problem. Ethically, I could no longer participate in such a dangerous mode of operation. I have recently left the profession. It was sick care, not healthcare.

When my daughter was 16 she would get very depressed. I took her to a psychiatrist who put her on Zoloft. A week later I called the dr as my daughter lay on the couch sobbing uncontrollably for hours for no particular reason that she could tell me. The dr said to absolutely NOT to take her off the medication. As a concerned mother I used my own judgement and immediately stopped giving her the medication… what do ya know. The next day she was off the couch being a “normal” teenager.

Amazing documentary with heartbreaking testimonies of which mine could have been one. My story of anorexia, erythromelalgia and doctors giving up on me proposing medical assisted dying when I reached the age of 41. No support from my family, I lost everything, job, house, friends and almost my life. Overmedicated, oxycodon, carbermazerpine, gabapentine, and so on... I threw everything away and stopped eating and drinking. Believe it or not, but there is where God saved me. At 45 kg, 1m82, 41 year old woman, fasted for over 20 days and... started to feel better!! I searched on the internet with what to refeed. Red meat. Yes, I became OMAD carnivore and now 4 years into my healing journey, I am writing my autobiography to raise awareness and... I met a supportive partner with whom I have the best relationship ever!! God is good 🙏❤ So grateful!

I’m a nurse and went down the rabbit hole with my eldest son when he complained of being “in a funk” at age 19…. 1st was Paxil and within 6 years he was being rx’d Seroquel, zyprexa, Ativan, Valium, geodon to name a few…. It took us almost 5 years to effectively wean him off all of it. I have always felt guilty for even suggesting that he talk to his doctor about any of it. He now finally has a calm, productive life with no meds (or mental illness) but feels robbed of over a dozen years due to the greed of the pharmaceutical co and the sheep of a doctor that just kept blindly prescribing

so sorry for what you and your son went thru, I lost 42 yrs of my life to overprescribing doctor both medical and psychiatric. I lost over 50lbs got off ALL meds and reversed or cured all the different "diseases" they told me I had (some of which I never had) Now drs are scared of me, because I've proved that you can get healthy, that you can heal, and all it took was a good diet, some fresh air and exercise (just walking!) and staying as far away from drs as humanly possible!! unless you break your arm or something like that, I mean. I am grateful that I was able to see my way clear of their nonsense before my life was over, and now I am trying to cram as much joy into each day as I possibly can.

Glad it's working out for ur son. He sounds just like me when I was his age. I'm 52 now. I also kicked Depressions butt for yrs on end and thought that was that. Or so I thought. After being married and having kids it came back and with a vengeance. And for no reason at all. It just came back. It destroyed my marriage and the beautiful life I had do to the loss of my job. Wat I'm saying is that darkness will always b with u. It will leave u alone for yrs on end and come out whenever it wants. Hope that never happens to ur son.

Two years ago, I was on an anti-depressant, an anti-psychotic, Ritalin, a beta blocker and high blood pressure medicine. A year ago, I started to slowly reduce the dosage of the SSRI and the Ritalin and I am now off of them. I stopped the beta blocker recently. Its slow going but I'm getting there. I'm 53 and will be off all medication soon. I am doing this without telling my doctor. It has been a decision between my husband and I only. I feel much better already.

I was forced off Adderall this year because of the shortages. I would get a month's worth, but because of how it's regulated the pharmacy would put me on the list for my next refill. Sometimes, it was two weeks before I could get more. So I just quit. I'm glad I did, but I'm still struggling with my ADHD symptoms.

At 16 was the first time my doctor tried to put me on antidepressants. I was not depressed. Just normal teenage emotions. She tried over the years to get me on them then finally snuck ant iaxiety meds on me for endometriosis pain. I noticed they didnt help my condition but helped me to sleep better, so I looked up what the med treated and it was anxiety. I immediately stopped taking it. And my doc was mad. I am my own doctor now. These doctors work for the big pharm not the well being of the patient. Sad times.

Please don't encourage other people to just jump off of anti anxiety meds. You do know withdrawls cause seizure and death? I'm telling you from personal experience. 100% bet you were not on any benzos for over 2 weeks or you would not irresponsibly and callously be telling people to just jump off , you might as well tell them to jump off a bridge. Granted, your experience is nowhere as deep as mine, on them for a decade and needing extensive medical detox and machines breathing for me, but yea, not cute .
