Love the editing! Also, I think it's a great idea to replace the original padding, then seal the rebuilt heal, and then trim the excess. Too often does the sealent seep onto the trimmed padding, but rearranging the steps definitely takes care of that problem. If only other cobblers did the same.

My Birkenstocks hold up for 3 years. Then I replace them with new ones I buy in the sale period. It’s nice to see they can be repaired, but the cork looses some of the damping abilities after a few years, so new ones are not so bad. What’s surprising is you can get most of the sole off without sanding. Good job.

The shoe repairer in my town said it is impossible to repair Birkenstock’s. (Mine are the like the ones in this video.) I’m trying to not just throw them away like he suggested. Probably just go it alone and get them repaired from an online cobbler who actually knows their stuff. Screw the so called “shoe repairer” here in my backward town. Haha.

To be fair to your cobbler, he/she might not have the equipment or knowledge on how to rebuild the heel as it is specific and proprietary.

It’s just gonna cost you the same amount to get another pair… There’s hardly any word on that so I guess you just doing demo and the court needs to be repaired that’s about it

Thank you for your comment! Our aim is to educate consumers to change their mindset of 'always buying new' to repairing footwear and really anything else when & where possible. We believe it’s worthwhile doing this because it would be wasteful otherwise, and 'always buy new' is not a good sustainable strategy overall. To correct you on cost -- this job actually costs less than getting a new pair!
