Its called a proof of work algorithm. Proof of stake is what Ethereum moved to where youre not sucking power to run your blockchain. The consensus work being done can be achieved so much more efficiently but also Bitcoin is far from the only proof of work coin. Monero, Litecoin, Dogecoin and so many others are mined with proof of work. The only difference is what algorithm type is bring used, sha-256 for Bitcoin, scrypt for doge and Litecoin and something else for monero i cant remember what its called.

PoS and PoW both have their strengths and weaknesses. Yes PoS is faster and far more efficient, but my friend nothing can ever, ever be as decentralised as a PoW like BTC.

It's making no sense if you really think about it . If the elctrical power you use is more valueable than the reward, then you're making no money and therefore bitcoin wouldn't have exist till today. On the other hand, if it's less than then the bitcoin itself would've crashed into oblivion forever . If it's equal then you're making no profit and therefore make no sense to mine bitcoin . And dont even start with the "the company gambled on the reward" to make profit. Btw, it's not like the company can consume your energy usage, what are they going to do ? Inhale it ? Suck it in ? There must be other way to explain bitcoin mining ( it's my opinion alone, feel free to correct me )

No the btc is currently covering the electricity cost but every 4million btc mined it reduces to half so it's now around 3.65btc per block and a block is mined every 10 mins but also when it reaches 21m btc mined the reward will be 0 but the transaction fee charges will hopefully keep it running. Also you can watch a how the block chain works video to get rid of any other thoughts

Basically, Bitcoin you need to guess a very random number thats how you "Mine" Bitcoin, but the number is very very big, and the miners is basically guessing the number for you, Though its very hard even eith using miners, so thats why you can work with other bitcoin miners example you guys get 1 bitcoin, that one bitcoin will be split on you guys,

There are different reasons why bitcoins value changes and why there is 'demand'. The law of supply and demand can be seen in bitcoin. There is nothing comparing to such in the leftover dead debree of a physical plant.

No the reward is currently around 3btc per 10mins and that is with 2-4million computers that are mining so even with a 1000 computers you wouldn't be able to mine enough btc to change the market
