I do not feel abused, nor would I ever accuse my mother of abuse. My mother is a strong black woman that raised four children on her own and raised them right! She is the reason I and my sister graduated from college and are productive members of society. All of her children love and emotionally support her in her elder years as she did for us as children . I feel we need to use a mix of old and new parenting, yes we can show our kids that we are human and make mistakes, but we must remain in control of our home and the rules in it and they should respect that at all times, especially if they pay no bills and are cared for , guided and loved.

I uphold the quote: "Do not commit an action you can not apologize for if wrong, Do not feel fear to apologizing if one has commiting a wrongdoing." It is overall a better experience for both the parent and the child to maintain a positive and mutually respectful relationship. I find it immature for a grown person to be unable to apologize.

I am so sorry to see how many people in the comments saying that their moms don't apologize. I wonder if any of the black moms in the comments apologize to their own kids though? I know that I went out of my way to be a different parent than what I had when I was growing up. Being able to apologize was on that list. Not spanking out of anger was another. Don't get me wrong, I did spank my kids, but not like what happened in this video. A spanking is not the punishment for everything. If you do that, then it loses it power. I learned that when I was younger to the point where I would decide to do what I wanted because a spanking was just fleeting pain. Most activities/actions that got me in trouble were fun for much longer than a duration of a spanking. 😄 Therefore, I was very judicial in my spankings and was very clear about what earned one when they were little. As they got older, then I got to be creative with punishments and I am sure my kids will tell their kids about those events. LOL

My heart broke when I heard that beating behind the closed door 😢 too real. I’d never do this to my kid. I prefer to believe the kid and punish him later if I realize he lied, but not like this, this is too harsh… damn… that simple IM SO SORRY I DIDNT BELIEVE YOU IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN would be the only thing that poor lad craved to hear! 😢😢😢

I love the friend that Momma talks to on the phone. Hilarious. And here’s something that I always think is cool about these vids: my own mom was VERY similar…so we all have more in common together than we realize sometimes. My mom would do exactly this…not believe me, get mad, and then never apologize…but she’d ask if I wanted to go to the store and get something. Or she’d make food I liked. It’s crazy to see these Momma videos because it’s like how I grew up too despite being from a different background.

I'm black, too, and I grew up among a generation of parents (as a whole) who would never say I'm sorry to their kids. They weren't bad parents; they were just taught differently. For those who did experience hearing their parent (s) say I'm sorry, more power to you!!
