Just got my 118 MSport auto, i've had it 3 weeks and in the first 750 miles I am getting 43-44MPG, I tend to be stuck travelling on a single A road for 15 of my 21 miles to work, so I don't personally need anymore power than this car has. Best of all and most importantly it feels well put together and everything works, unlike my Cupra Formentor I rejected after 4 months. Also on the Cupra I had to push 7 buttons to turn off the lane departure and to get back to the digital cockpit display I had it on before I stopped for a pint of milk! The BMW I set it to off once home from the dealership, job done!. 5 Stars from me, but I don't think anyone who wants performance would look at this engine anyway .

Hey Sunny, car had so many software issues it was embarrassing the door card rattled and vibrated, the touch screen is dreadful.screen fails to to work sometimes and the stupid touch controls that are not back lit! Great in winter. 5 months on BMW is faultless and the build quality and I drive system are excellent 👌 no brained! Oh and Cupra dealership was a joke

@@steveward2141 Thanks. I found a couple of little irritations when I did a test drive such as the front end is really long and I could see the bonnet which really annoyed me. Also the interior felt very clostophobic and basic looking. No doubt I'd probably find the same problems with the infortainment system that you and others have raised. The pluses are, It drives well and looks stunning, but I won't make the same mistake I made when I purchased the Mercedes A180 . I had to return it after 2 weeks , worst car I've ever had 😫

This obsession with high BHP & power is a tad dated now as there’s never been a easier time to lose your license! ….20mph limits galore soon & undercover Police patrolling the motorways & dual carriageways! ….I think 136bhp is plenty these days👍 By the way we’ve just bought a 2021 118i in Storm Bay metallic, with a list of added extras😁 There is no doubt about it, the new 1 Series is a lovely car, both inside & out.

This car the 118i is there for people who need a small family or daily. It has not been designed to be a race car. Look at the M135 if you want a hot hatch. 136HP is good enough and 0-60mph in 7.6 is not slow either. A very good quality, practical and spacious car. My wife has one to use as a daily and run around. All I can say is that it does what it says on the package. My driving experience with is car is that this is a great little car. I definitely prefer it to the equivalent Audi or VW.

BMW research showed most 1 series owners didn’t even know their car was RWD. They aren’t going to design a car based on the small minority of ‘car guys’ who actually care that it’s RWD.

Good review lads. It late in the comments but came across this as I’m picking one up this week. Not wanting ti correct you, but I believe it is a DCT in the 118i. I think the M135i has a torque converter auto. From my research anyway! Good review I’ve subscribed 👍

Like I was saying to my dad, I think the problem is that all the TV/magazine car reviewers have been moaning about room for the people in the back since 2004. Anyone would think that this is the only car on the planet that has 4-5 seats. BMW have used this as an excuse to cut costs as everybody knows. This was BMWs totally unique selling point, crap rear legroom never dented its sales as far as I'm aware. I hope they realise what a disaster of an idea it is, but they won't because this cost cutting will make it become AS common as an A3.

Getting quotes on a 118i m sport at the moment , I don’t think the power is an issue for me as I’m happy to plod around just as well with my t-roc 1.0 but it goes enough for me, I’m also looking at the storm bay colour what did you think to that ?

Don't be put off with the review mate the 1.5 engine is quick enough and fast enough 8.5 sec to 60 is respectable

A nice little vid from some proper Yorkshire folk. However the car only has an M performance spoiler the other bits on the car are all Maxton Disign pieces from what I can see. Also nice exhaust sound and if you want to test drive an M135i I'd be up for letting you test mine

Looking at the options on that you could have purchased the 128ti, the M Sport Pro Pack, Comfort Pack, Auto trans and paint takes the retail to a good £35k, add another £2k and you’d have the all singing M135i. The only issue is the current lead time if you want to order one (as I’ve found out).

Great video! Had one a 118i M-sport as a loaner while my f21 was in the garage. I've got to disagree with the comment about the size and quality of the interior, though. I didn't feel the new one felt any more special or spacious at all - infact, I'd argue it felt cheaper.
