1st time call will not connect, and if you try for 2nd time by disconnecting call and reconnecting then call is going in 4g volte. No problem in 3g/2g like you said

Usually 4G/LTE is enough for most users with 3-4 carrier aggregation. 5G+, 6G and later will be focusing on reusing frequency bands. Airtel and jio offer 5G in peak loads and switch to LTE on bigger files or streams. I've switched entirely to WiFi and 5G is very expensive on both Airtel and Jio but also the service is spotty. India should allow WiFi 6E,7 and 8 only then 6G or later can be introduced since initial cost will be lower due to large volume adoption. Not sure how many decades will it take to be approved but eventually we might get there There should be always more players in telecom otherwise there will be no competition.

I switched my number to bsnl in January 2023 used it for 3 months then switched to jio. Main issue was call drops and network issues. Whenever there is powercut their network is gone. They didn't had power backup for their towers atleast at that time. Second issue was call drops. My number was shown switched off to people most of the time. Then there was internet issue so had to toggle aeroplane mode everytime internet stops working. Those 3 months were like a nightmare then i switched to jio. And still using it.
