If he thinks Goku is doing something genuinely stupid or harmful, he calls him out because he wants Goku to do better, not because he’s jealous or wants to embarrass him. But if Goku can explain his reasoning to an acceptable degree, Piccolo will usually back him up. Piccolo is a friend who isn’t a cheerleader. He trusts but doesn’t blindly follow. Glad that he’s slowly starting to get back the respect that he deserves. I just wish Goku would recognize what a true friend Piccolo is (and the rest of his old buddies) and just spend genuine quality time with them instead of always running off to train with Vegeta.

Vegeta as a concept is amazing. He starts off as a pure evil monster with no morals, and we watch him get constantly humbled throughout the series and have his whole way of life shattered right before his eyes, and the series ends with him developing as a character and learning to accept his new way of life. He's a very arrogant person by nature, and he's made a lot of crazy fuck-ups, (Like letting Cell evolve or letting himself be corrupted by Babidi and assisting in awakening Buu), but they're very necessary moments of Vegeta's journey to improvement. And he remains a very entertaining character to watch so he's not completely irredeemable. But I think the reason a lot of people still don't like Vegeta is because the writers are still very inconsistent on writing him after the Buu saga. He was still kinda petty towards Goku (although their relationship has improved in recent chapters), he can still be distant from his family, and not to even mention the whole Ultra Ego shit. But he has also shown a lot of character growth as well. The Moro arc, even with it's many many flaws, was actually a pretty good arc for Vegeta's development as a character, and it's a shame people are still ignoring how much he's helped save the earth and defend not only his universe, but the other's as well. He's definitely not a model citizen like the rest, but that's not where his appeal comes from. It's how much he's grown, and how much he's still growing as a person that draws people to him.

1. Having a rivalry with Goku doesn’t make him not trustworthy. Lots of friends and siblings irl even have a rivalry yet they still trust each other. 2. Surpassing Goku is not the only goal he has. Not the only reason why he trains and fights. Vegeta in DBSuper trains and fight to get stronger, to protect his family and friends. 3. Vegeta loves Bulma and Trunks. You can see that especially in the Zamasu/Goku Black Arc. One of main reasons why he wanted to defeat Goku Black and Zamasu was for his son and the future of his earth. 4. In the granolah arc when Vegeta was in his ultra ego form, he said that he can't go back to his old way cause he is a new man now.

Vegeta's character didn't regress in that arc. The whole point of Vegeta fighting with Ultra Ego against Granola was to solidify how different he actually was from his first appearance. In order to use it he had to regress mentally and become savage, but by the end of the fight he admits he couldn't because the WHOLE time he was fighting Granola was not to actually win, but to prove a point of how damaging his revenge was. It actively went against how he was supposed to use his form. tl;dr It's hard for Vegeta to maintain Ultra Ego because he just ain't that guy anymore.

Well, I heard once that Vegta was always the character from the main ones that Toriyama liked the less and his idea was that Vegeta ended up on Namek as it happened. The simple explanation is that he is an entertaining character. Especially during the Namek and Cell Sagas. You can see the appeal he has on multiple types of people. He’s the cool edgy attitude that people are into that . The Vegeta/ Bulma shipping for people into that. The villain character exploration and redemption arc for people who are into those. He’s the opposite of Goku and people love him for it. People love a fictional character regardless of that character’s actions or morals, because of how they make the story interesting or entertaining. Just like how people love Freeza or Cell. It all depends on how they appeal to you.

In the form of Frieza, Goku, Gohan, and (as he admits in Super) a bit of guilt, all he thought gave meaning to himself were threatened constantly. In real life its possible for a very despicable low life to change to be a better person, yet through life is constantly tested to return to their ne'er-do-well way of living, and sometimes through hard falls and a bit of trust can solidify a persons place in life. This is Vegeta, for a long time he didn't have a place until the end of the Buu arc when he accepted his place in life, but not his dream to be stronger than Goku. He became more involved with his family, he easily gave up his pride to thwart Beerus' agitation, he didn't purposely drag his fight with Frieza like he used to do with weaker enemies he had a problem with, he was willing to put aside fighting to be with Bulma when Bra was about to be born, he willingly educated Cabba (in his own way) in becoming stronger, he's more calmer and observant in Super than he used to be, he accepted spiritual training from the Yardrats, admitted his guilt for what he did to the namekiens, admitted to carrying the guilt for the death of the Saiyan race on himself, and by the end of the Granola arc realizes he can't fully utilize Ultra Ego because he's not who he used to be to make it work. Does he deserve his family and everything he has now? NO HE DOES NOT. Does he believe doing good deeds will get him into heaven? He fully admits in the Moro arc and is completely aware he's still going to Hell regardless of if he saves new namek or even the universe. overall, regardless of his past, he's pretty decent now.

I use to have gripes with Vegeta growing up but as an adult I think Vegeta is an alright character and went through a decent redemption arc. The reason he's the way he is is because Saiyans have been taught as their nature to be violent. And when you think about it he recieved consequences for his actions by either being humbled or dying. The 1st time was when Frieza killed him after genociding the Namekians, then the 2nd when he sacrificed himself for his loved ones after killing those innocent people. Then most of that was undone, so I think his best aspects come out after having a new lease on life and being shown what's like to adopt Earth as his new home. My guess as to why people like Vegeta is because he's cut throat and bad ass, depth aside. As for my favorite DB character ironically I would have to go with any version of Trunks(whether kid, future, Gt, or even Super). He's honestly a character you can't go wrong with and has the best story potential.

Fans love aspects of Vegeta that they themselves possess or they wish they had. It’s the same difference with Goku and many other characters in DBZ. It’s either traits of themselves or things or attributes they wish they had. No it’s not the bad things that Vegeta‘s done it is personality trait/trope. Very good points and I understand them, but I view then as character development. How? Here it is. He starts to become more a part of the Z fighters at the Cell saga, there he is full of arrogance, allowing Cell to become perfect, but after Gohan saves him he does the same by blasting a ki blast.(sign of character development) when Goku sacrificed himself Vegeta fell into despair, not having a chance to fight Goku again, and that broke him, his only desire. In the buu saga when Goku returns and he, Goku, Gohan ans Shin are in Babidi's space ship Vegeta is done from Goku and Gohan playing around and decides to blow the ship, then he gets controlled and his only desire to beat Goku kicks in and wants to fight. After that he goes to blow himself up to defeat Buu, and there we can see him doing something for others, doing that for Trunks, Bulma and yes, even Kakarot. And from that point he truly changed even swallowing his pride and admitting that Goku is number one. But, here comes DBS throwing everything from both Goku and Vegeta out from the window, they threw both character development to the trash. We can see that with Goku also when he has to relearn things he already knew. All that so the story could continue because they where fully developed at the end of Z. That is my opinion personally, I see that all that he did was of character development and all that lead to his final development in the end of Z. And as you mentioned they did it right in GT.

Vegeta wanted to fight golden frieza after he was losing energy during his fight with goku. Vegeta also wanted to run it back with granola after granola had fought goku and was getting weaker. Vegeta still lost to frieza and still lost to granola. Vegeta also bent the knee to beerus after losing to him after he found out what happened regarding his home planet. He insulted ui but lost to gas who tui goku beat. Yet he talks so much about pride. He even went back to his obsession with surpassing goku after making it seem like he was done with that in dbz. He's an okay character to me and I don't hate him. I definitely don't like him though and personally don't understand why he's so popular.

If you read the moro arc (a manga exclusive arc) vegeta actually feels guilty for his and its race's past, it is explained by vegeta himself in both namek and mostly in the granolah arc. He is a good person as of now. He still cares greatly for his family and actually loves the earth. When before he was just a mass murderer. Who enjoyed to destroy because for him affection was a sign of weakness. For him, cruelity was a sign of strength and how you survive in those conditions, due to Frieza. My favorite characters are Goku, Piccolo, and Trunks. My least favorite character is Paragus. That D-bag literally killed his accomplice, Beets to "save rations." It's not impossible that he cannibalized Beets either. The man also, when he found Broly on Vampa, started training him up for revenge on Vegeta's bloodline. Then, he started abusing him into basically becoming the Dragon Ball version of the Hulk. Paragus is not funny, relatable, or cool at all. That wuss used a BLASTER GUN to shoot the ear off Broly's pet monster, Bah. Yes, Saiyans are generally cruel, but look at Bardock's team in classic Z. They had SOME standards, and stuck up for each other. Bardock had a great sense of honor, avenging his team against Dodoria, and sticking up for his people by revolting alone against Frieza.

But when it comes to Vegeta what people are over looking is the fact that even though Vegeta said that goku was better than he is that doesn't mean that Vegeta was going to sit back and not compete with Goku. As in super Vegeta says that he trains to surpass ka Kakarot while Goku responded with he trains to be stronger than Vegeta. In other words if Vegeta stopped training then if we go by Goku's statement then goku would stop training. So validating 😂😂😂 I love Vegeta in the Saiyan Arc as a villain and foil to Goku, and in the Namek Arc as an unwilling ally and an antihero, and I think his death against Freeza and the way he bequeathed the legacy of the Saiyan race to Goku was absolutely perfect. After his revival though? This character is just shoehorned into everything. I hate the way Bulma is essentially character assassinated into marrying this guy who killed her friends, crippled her best friend and his 4 year old kid, gloated about murdering a village of innocents and is responsible for likely TRILLIONS of deaths as part of the planet trade business. Future Trunks is cool as hell, but not at the expense of basic logic. I don't mind him being stupid and making egotistical mistakes, that stuff makes a lot of other characters interesting, but in his case it's ALWAYS just to pad out the story. Not to mention his overglazed "character development" in the Buu Arc, where he especially throws a temper tantrum to fight Goku, gives in like a bitch for more power (still weaker than Goku lmao), kills 400 people (almost kills his own wife 🤢 btw), and then when Goku says essentially "you're being fucking dumb lol," he just does a full 180° and now loves Trunks and Bulma, and he's making his sacrifice for them and also for Goku? Gtfo. DBS is a hot bed for out of character flanderizations, and he's no different there. I hate that they completely missed the point of the Saiyan Arc, and made it so that Vegeta trains hard, but Goku is talented. I hate that they make Vegeta the trillion killer out to be this durian like, soft guy and as if he's a better father and straight up person than Goku. And superficially, his dumbass forms like Blue Evolution and Ultra Ego (😂) are garbage too. Even more superficially, he looks so ugly when he goes SSB with his armor on. Bright blue armor, bright blue hair, bright blue aura, bright blue particle effect vomit, it's eye piercingly ugly. At least Goku has a ton of orange in his outfit. There's a reason Toriyama designed the RoF outfits to be different. The Broly film fixes this, but it's a bit too late. Just because dbs vegeta wears the armor that was used in the cell saga doesnt mean that he is the same as cell saga vegeta. The obvious difference is that cell saga vegeta didnt save Bulma and baby trunks and let cell absorb android 18. Battle of gods vegeta is taking precaution with Beerus and heeds King Kai's warning, which cell saga vegeta would to too proud to listen. Vegeta in battle of gods does everthing he can to avoid fighting and even gets mad when Beerus slapped Bulma, which Cell Saga Vegeta wouldnt care much about. GT vegeta may've lost the rivalery with Goku, but his doesnt do anything until Omega Shenron, which he aquires super saiyan 4 in an out of character motive, while in dbs, vegeta aquired super saiyan god, god ki by trainning alone and aquired Super Saiyan Blue by trainning with Goku, something Cell saga vegeta didnt consider an option with the room of spirit and time. Throughout Dragon Ball Super, we see Goku and Vegeta's rivalery and their need to protect the ones they love is their motivation to get stronger. Vegeta in dbs actually respects Goku for his style of trainning and progression when he was battling Goku Black, who cheated to get to where he was. Three more examples of Vegeta's progression is when he unlocks Super Saiyan Blue evolution, fights God toppo and his speech to Goku. After seeing Goku achieve Ultra Instinct two times in a rowe, Vegeta tried to copy Goku's ideal of a calm mind and no emotion, but realized that wasnt for him and finally stopped trying to follow Goku's footsteps and found his own path to power, which dbz vegeta couldnt do. God Toppo is what Vegeta was like when he allowed Bobidi to possess him just so he can get an amp to match Goku, he basically sold his soul to get stronger, which is what Toppo did when he let go of his morals in favor of destruction. Ssbe vegeta motivation to his family and promise to bring Cabba back to life proves that Vegeta isnt only motivated by his Rivalery to Goku. The last example is his speech to belmod and Goku. Vegeta gave his last bit of energy to Goku, but he also gave his pride and promise to Goku. Which means he put his faith in Goku, which Cell saga Vegeta only said sorry to Gohan because he thought they were all done for. GT Vegeta being a family man is fine, but he lost the warrior part of himself, while dbs vegeta is a family man and a warrior and wants to keep getting stronger

I understand the hate but Vegeta knows is the number 1 Saiyan Vegeta is a Saiyan warrior he loves his family you can hate him all you want but I have seen the anime and i know Vegeta is a better father than goku yes Vegeta trains but he is more responsible he even risk his own life to save future trunks he gave all he had in the tournament of power he encouraged goku to unlock Master ultra instict he also helped keyabe to turn super Saiyan. Know yes i seen the cell saga and buu saga he was a dick he let him cell to fuse with the androids and let himself to be controlled by babidi and yes he did terrible things but thanks for him. Wee got vegito wee got trunks he helpes goku to get stronger and the hybrid Saiyans he risk his life to help goku with the spirit bomb to destroy kid buu. Vegeta was able to save his race by reproducing with Bulma. Yes vegata kills innocent people and planets but how he wouldn't in that time Freeza was too powerful and even if the 3 Saiyans fought him they wouldn't stand a chance not until goku show up and turn super Saiyan. Know yes i understand the hate and that's ok But don't tell people to not like the character cuz liking is also ok I like Goku and Vegeta is Like Optimus Prime and Megatron 😁

Bro, you really want all the smoke from the Vegeta fanboys 😆. Although Vegeta was never one of my favorite characters I did have respect for him as a warrior. Outside of that his character development was basically him wanting to one up Goku by trying to be like Goku. If you can't beat the man, be the man. His sacrifice to Buu wasn't impactful to me because that's something that Goku had already done multiple times throughout the series. GT Vegeta was cool and showed true character development but I hate what they did to his hair. DBS Vegeta is just annoying to me, same as Bulma. Excluding DBS my favorite characters are future Trunks, Tien and Piccolo.

I 100% agree with you GT Vegeta was the best Vegeta but I got to say Vegeta never was my favorite character out of the franchise on a scale from 1 to 10 one being the best and 10 being the worst I would give Dragon Ball Z Vegeta maybe a 6 at best because we all know he didn't develop all that much until the end of the Majin Buu saga as far as Dragon Ball Super Vegeta yeah I would give him maybe a 7 or 8 Nowhere near number one which was clearly GT Vegeta which was the best of Vegeta. But to be honest I think Goku's brother Raditz would have been far better of a character going forward I mean Raditz had far more of a connection to Goku then Vegeta ever did and Raditz was nowhere near as evil or a psychotic as Vegeta was. But as for my favorite character I might have to go with Piccolo we all know that Piccolo is every bit as evil as Vegeta was but it did not take in entire series for Piccolo to evolve and to fight for good and once Piccolo became good he stayed that way.

Insane but uh If youre caught up with the manga hes no longer like that He understands that Goku is a better and stronger fighter than him Majin vegeta was the climax of that whole envy thing he had going hes dealt with that and has gotten over it for a long time now In the buu saga he refers to goku as number 1 and truly the champion And no longer tries to chase after him to get stronger instead he chases his own path to strength. Here's an example of what i mean. Android saga Vegeta is the jealous envious one Now vegeta is still prideful ofc thats apart of his character he's the prince afterall but he acknowledges goku now having no problems fighting alongside him and treating him as comrade Not to mention hjs guilt for the things hes done in the past was holding him back as well meaning he feels remorse for the things he's done. The younger vegeta was doing all he can to get to goku's level and surpass him being obsessed with beinf stronger than him Now vegeta simoly wants to he the strongest in his own way he wants his own path he doesnt chase kakarot anymore He only chases power Power that he uses to protect the ones he loves Vegeta's growth as a character and development is undermined alot but I enjoy it. I actually like Super Vegeta, as he's not totally consumed by envy and actually has a relationship with his family. It's been many years since I watched Z, but yeah, I was never crazy about him. Especially with how he cucked Yamcha, I loved Yamcha with Bulma in Dragon Ball. Vegeta was just a massive, selfish baby. I appreciate Super for making him more sensible though. Not driven completely by envy and delusion.
