Hello, fellow Dazza. Thanks for the video. I came up with a situation where Richmond could get 1,6,9,12,17,20 + 2xfuture 1st. I had both players going to Freo, Rioli to GC and Graham to WC (band 3 value, #22) and st kilda getting pick 6 compo (effective making +1 to all picks). Here is how it works. GC #14 + #20 for Rioli Freo #9 + #12 + #16 for Baker + Bolton + #39 Bris #17 for later picks That would leave Richmond with 1,9,12,14,16,17,20,21,22. They trade #14 + #16 for pick #6 and trade #21 + #22 for 2 future 1st. #1 O'Sullivan #6 Armstrong (ahead of Ess + mel) #9 Lalor/mid that slides #12 Travaglia #17 Berry/Lindsay #20 Dobson The best thing is that we would still have 3 1st rounders next year as well. Keep the video up

good video mate, I genuinely haven't been this interested in the draft or trade period for over 10 or years I reckon. Definitely a lot of interesting possibilities - believe we had the highest draft points hand going into this season before our likely lowly finish and any potential departures. You sort of touched on it briefly but I'll be keen to see what we do shopping around some of those picks to clubs desperately needing draft points for F/S and academy picks. Could definitely bundle some of those later picks in exchange for another selection higher up the draft order. Despite the strong potential raft of picks incoming, we'll be losing a ton of experience so I'm hopeful some of the older players will be retained to help set the standards and mentor the next tiger cubs coming through. Re-signing Broad was great from that POV and I wouldn't mind holding onto McIntosh and Pickett for the same reasons. Prestia as well. They may be past their best and not likely part of the future premiership chasing side but they can still help provide bigger bodies, experience and wisdom to guide the younger players as they try and find their feet in the AFL. We'll also have a bucket of cap space available so I hope we're open to picking up players at other clubs who might be looking for opportunity or game time. I recall we were into Hobbs before he was drafted to Essendon so maybe he's one we might look at. Not sure if there are other clubs feeling salary cap pressure who might need to jettison players so there may also be some bargains to be had if we can absorb them into our own cap.

Dont mind it mate tiger side this draft and next years could set us up for next 10 years bite the bullet. We got a bunch of picks we stacked up with last year that clubs will come at us for father and sons lions and blues don't forget. Rioli is the one I think we hold the aces think Suns will have to give a early pick or a good young player. Finn is the one for me at number 1 pick. Holding on to pick 20 and 21 gives us a few aces to come second night of the draft clubs coming to us.

A few thoughts 1. You're spot on about Dan Rioli, those two picks are paying slightly over but that's the market. 2. After watching alot of interviews with club recruiters on gettable, the point of trades is "To keep everyone happy". Fans overlook this alot. But just think of it from this point of view, you have a market place with only 18 buyers and sellers and you have to deal with them all at some point, or you're at least likely too. 3 I did the math on the failure rate on draft picks and it's alot worse than people's gut instinct says. (i.e people reading this will probably disagree) What I found was the top ten picks fail 30% of the time and you add 10% for each ten picks after that. 1-10 30% failure rate 11-20 40% 21-30 50% etc As an example the tigers had 5 in the top 30 in 2021. I full expect 2 of them to fail at least (i.e not play 100 games)
@daztalksfooty2 ай бұрын
Yeah the failure rate is getting better but it's not infallible

@daztalksfooty2 ай бұрын
Pick 14 as it stands for the Lions is really tricky because they're already 750 points behind a Pick 4 & Pick 25 bid on Ashcroft and Marshall. You'd need a surplus of 750 points in a trade. That's a steep climb to get there. 20, 21 and 22 are so powerful come the end of the first draft day (without the added trade with the Dees) 25, 33, 41 & 51 give a surplus of 819 which could work. Leaves Richmond with: 1, 3, 12, 14, 17, 20, 21, 22. If Brisbane went for it, that would be elite. North's Pick 2 will be for assets in this draft I'm afraid. They want two picks in the top 12

If this plays out as you have outlined, you deserve a knighthood. Too many unlikely deals involved in this by my reckoning. I suspect it is likely to go pear-shaped with the very first one, which would then effectively stuff up a lot of subsequent ones. I don't think Freo will give up all those picks to get #3 from the Eagles, especially not in what is predicted to be a very even draft within the top half a dozen picks or so. What they in hindsight had to give to get those extra two first rounders is irrelevant now that they have them and shouldn't influence their thinking. I also don't think Freo would sell the farm to get Bolton. The other fly in the ointment could be North Melbourne splitting #2 for two decent first rounders if they believe they can draft two good key position prospects. I think Willem Duursma could be on their radar to join Zane. That could start a separate merry go round of pick trades to come up with something that would satisfy North, which could involve Freo. Anyway, always interesting to speculate and to explore the complexities of the upcoming trade period. I agree that if the Tigers don't bust their balls to get a great draft hand this year and next year, they are going to be screwed when Tassie comes in.

@brendanh81932 ай бұрын
@@alejandroqartezI agree, North would gazump this. 2770 points (Freo) to 2517 (NM) is a lot fairer than 4437 (Freo) 2234 (WC). I honestly know very little about Gerreyn, I though he was a ruck who moved forward, now it seems he's a good leading forward who can ruck, but I'm really not qualified to comment. Selfishly I want north to improve straight away and the Whitlock twins seem to need time to develop. North already have Wil Dawson as development tall and I'm getting a little tired of the promise with few results that north have dished out over the years. Some instant impact would go a long way for the fan base

as a Tigers fan, Bolton is definitely a 'cream on top' kind of player. A genuine match winner with a unique skillset that not many in the league can match. IF Freo think they are a chance at a flag tilt in the next 2-5 years, I reckon he'd be a great addition to them. Dusty rightfully got all the chocolates for the 2020 flag but if you watch the second half - late in the third and 4th quarter in particular, you can see flashes of Bolton's match winning brilliance that helped swing the result. He's fast, evasive, makes defenders nervous and seems to thrive when the stakes are high. Those are great weapons to have for any side going into September. Unfortunately for us, Bolton is probably a luxury that won't help us much in a rebuild and if his heart isn't fully in it, we're best moving him on while his trade value is high and we can negotiate from a position of strength. He (and probably some others) would probably flourish with a new lease of life elsewhere. Having tasted premiership success, I could imagine that it's hard to get that motivation up to those contender levels when it seems the team was on a post premiership decline.
