it rotates in one place, after parenting or without, no changes, just rotates in one place, not moving around planet

You need to place the null object in the middle of the scene and the orbiter far from it on the side, then parent them.

How would I go about making the moon a mask and reveal a textlayer?

Hi there, Thanks for contacting us. You can either create a shape layer as the matte layer for your text and then animate it with position to reveal the text, or create a mask for the text layer and animate that in accordance to the movement of the moon.

Hi there, The orbiter layer should be on top of the planet layer in the timeline and they should be 3d layers

Really good ! But , ... it s a satelite NOT a planete ... because he have to turn around a star to be a planete , AND animation is more difficults because the intern lights have to rotate during the revolution. ;-) Maybe for the next video, if EA could do it

Yeah a lot can be done to make it more realistic, we tried to keep it simple for this one.
