I'm 4 years with my palisade. I live in a part of Canada with lots of snow. And all kinds. Wet snow, hard packed, icey etc. This vehicle is a bit of an anomaly. With good winter tires this vehicle turns into an absolute beast. With all seasons I'm afraid to go around a turn. Palisade + snow tires = tank
@CoderMan Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Most vehicles come alive on snow tires, especially in harsh winter areas.

The issues I have had in the snow is cornering, rear always wants to slide when going around bends (only have used all-seasons 9/32+), and the well under the windshield wipers. If it isn't cleaned out it could prevent the wipers from working.

That windshield washer design is so weird, and sliding around is never fun... unless you plan it!

@@CoderMan Wow if you already needed tires before 27k that would be even more surprising. I hope they’re the original and that would explain some of it. But like you said all seasons are no seasons. Except for a few real pricey ones that never come OEM. Our XC40 isn’t great in the snow either. The front tires just can’t cut into the snow and it’s so easy to plow in a turn unless you’re barely moving.

Note: Snow mode ‘shines’ with the proper tires. It limits throttle response to reduce wheel spin and balances the tire torque distribution. With the Michelin CC2s snow mode was the best for my 21 Palisade. Started to get a little stuck on a small incline in ‘snow mode’ with 12 + inches of snow. I simply pushed the AWD lock button and was able to pull through…..with ease.

@@CoderMan I’ve seen folks with $70K BWM X5s clad with WIDE summer tires struggle to move up a slightly slushy hill that 2WD sedans conquer with ease. For those of us with palisades with 20” wheels (vs 18) tire upgrades are especially critical for winter.

Did winter tires really make that much of a difference? Honestly, that’s great information and plus that’s just very impressive. I was a little hesitant about the Pest side, but I love everything else about it, but I was just afraid of its beast mode through slight mud and snow, but you’re the second person I mentioned once winter tires were put on it was a whole different animal. Am I understanding correctly?

I just got a 2020 Palisade and live in Mass myself will give it a go in the Snow and see. I have found in the past that you have to lock the center for HTRAC and you have to take of the traction control. But I had a KIA Stinger with the even worse version of HTRAC and it was great in snow but maybe that is the weight distribution I mean a really heavy SUV is not going to be great in snow to be honest unless it is based on a truck body or a GMC. My friends Expedition with any tires was horribly bad in the snow. The tires that come with it are horribly bad from all accounts so that might be a big factor and that is the case for a lot of manufacturers Toyota being on of the worst in the past at least.
@CoderMan2 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the Palisade, I 100% agree on all of your points. Car companies just don't put much effort into the tires they ship vehicles with.
@ruturaj47 Жыл бұрын
Why would a truck based one would be better? Due to AWD system that distributes power better than FWD based AWD systems? If so, it's about powertrain which stinger is better at.
