Papua New Guinea is now a land of abundance. Living in New Zealand, I'm pleased that my taxes contribute to the Gordans Market. I'm excited to visit PNG in January 2024 for a week and look forward to sampling the local produce.

If you had spent K100 for veggies in the highlands Region of PNG, that table would break. I'm am not kidding. Great content.

Haha you’re not the first viewer to recommend buying local vegetables from the Highlands! Sounds like incredible value! We’ve had vege supplies from Goroka, and their locally grown strawberries are so sweet and juicy!!!

Most of these vegies are transported from the highlands so it's a bit expensive. Try Goroka market in eastern highlands province.

Great video. Just want to mention that the 'Aibika' you labelled (4:15) was actually kango. Aibika looks totally different and comes in many varieties. Try Aibika next time, its an excellent source of iron. Otherwise its a good video to show that definitely its cheaper to buy at the local markets comparted to supermarkets. Local markets fruits and vegetables are organic from rich soil with no chemicals. Buying from local markets also support the families. Thank you Daniel and Yuka. Head to Sepik and check out the Wewak market, you wont be disappointed. Your K100 worth of fruits and vegetables would make the car tyre go flat... (wink wink).

Thanks Yang Ewan, for clarifying Aibika = kangkong… we asked the vendors and they told us aibika. You’re right, aibika leaf does look totally different! Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

Just casually throw in "it's probably safer to go in a group" at the end. Wait, what? Elaborate please!
@DanielandYuka3 жыл бұрын
Well we sort of got harassed by some random guy who tried to drag us to the police station because I was filming and he was of the opinion that I was exploiting the market vendors by filming “without their permission”, so it sort of soured the experience a little and has kinda deterred us from going back to Gordon’s Market, then the second wave of COVID-19 hit PNG so we haven’t been back again since. Which is a shame as we really enjoyed the experience until this guy was a jerk… if we weren’t in a group it would have been a lot more intimidating - hence my casual suggestion to go in a group. :)
