I am thai local, I buy meat at the Betagro mini supermarket,CP freshmart because of its quality and the ingredients like herb, soy source ,catchup etc. lotus supermarket brand-it cheaper and good quality,thoses places you can get membership discount and buy vegetables, fruits at local fresh market because it cheaper and negotiable😄

Try makro Supermarket, you will get grass fed beef and lamb from Australia and New Zealand. Meal prep is the way to go, it costs more, but ready made food is full of sugar and msg, that's why it tastes so good 😊

In Las Vegas, those groceries would cost roughly two times what you paid there. I'm wondering if it would make some sense to take Thai cooking classes to make better use of Thailands native foods. Please a good way to socialize.

US here, not a huge city so groceries tend to be cheaper here than most places. The chicken was cheaper, the vegetables it was surprising how similar the prices are though. Normally less than a 30 cent difference on what it would cost for the same vegetables here.
@mykalhenryАй бұрын
I know how to shop cheap here in the US I prolly could come in around $35 here in the US for that haul (here in Brooklyn NY) for example I can get a large "bag" purdue legs and thighs (not cut, I cut the legs from the thighs later) for .89 per pound in 10 pound bags for $8.90, that's tough to beat, the cheapest way to go in Bangkok and Patts IMO is the street food and 7 11 ezgo meals. I fkg live off that sht when I am there (granted not the most healthy).
@icanseaclearnowАй бұрын
Same that haul I could probably get for around $45-$50 dollars depending on what vegetables were on sale in my area. I may have to visit two different stores, but doable. Actually the hot sauce may be the most expensive thing here in the states if you shop right.

@kohtimeАй бұрын
@@practice4089 On the whole Lotus tends to be one of the cheapest but I often get better deals on meat from the big Makro stores. Meat on the bone here is also priced quite highly compared to breast meat for example. In the Uk breast is 3x the price of drums but here they are pretty comparable 🙏

Precooked rice is not a thing here. around 102$ haha. We are 2 adulst and 3 childrens aged 1,6,8. Our monthly food budget now is 1400$/month + 300$ for eating out twice/month. If you are in the UK, chicken wings and drumsticks are honestly around the same price as shown in this video!
@kohtimeАй бұрын
To be honest mate that’s true! What’s little known though is that because the bone in meat is more sought after here, chicken breast is cheap. I’m getting chicken breast at the moment for about 75thb (£1.71) a kilo at Makro in Hua Hin. Same amount of chicken in asda today is £6.49 , so almost 4 times the price in the uk 🙏
@jetthepandaАй бұрын
@@kohtime yes, the deboned skinless packs of chicken breast or thigh are much more expensive. A big pack of wings similar amount to shown in video is £1.99 from Sainsbury's, cheaper in Aldi or Lidl. Unpopular opinion, but I think the breast is the worst part of the chicken anyway 😂🙈
@kohtimeАй бұрын
@ I absolutely agree that chicken breast is the driest and least flavourful, but for some reason seems most popular in the Uk. I lived in Manchester most of my life and chicken breast was always the go to! Either that or roast the whole bird ☺️

@kohtimeАй бұрын
@@sandymorado4430 Hi Sandy 🙂 to be honest, Thailand can be as cheap or as expensive as you make it. Convenience food, sauces in jars, preserved meats etc are massively inflated and really should be avoided if you want to keep the costs a little lower. Fresh fruit and veg, fresh meat etc are much more affordable excluding veg that struggles to grow here like broccoli for example which in my opinion is almost extortionate. If you find recipes using more local ingredients you will be much better off cost wise. I’ve found that almost any western style dish can be adapted to be much more affordable with a few little changes here in Thailand 🙏

The food is rotten in Thailand, the better of the food goes to restaurants. Food that is imported is very expensive. Your body will adjust to the bacteria over time. There is no way I could come to Thailand for a week. I would have to stay a minimum of 3-6 months. I stayed for almost a year, going all over and still got bubble guts. It's harsh to say the least.
