Chimney fires are very common - we see them all the time 🤷♂️

On average how much does this process cost. Like the inspection and the cleaning?

Yep. Dead animals are very common. That’s why proper cap is very important 👍

Can a poly dryer vent brush be used to clean stainless steel chimney liner?
@ChimneyMonkey7 ай бұрын
Dryer vent brush is probably way too small for a fireplace flue. It needs to be the size of the flue to brush all sides

Tidbit of info most flu liners are dry stacked from the git

You said the mortar of the chimney joints come off, how do u seal them again?
@anotherhuman219 ай бұрын
I'd assume either you go in there to apply mortar or demo

A company called saver systems offers a product called heat shield. Its a masonry slurry applied to the inside of the chimney with a foam pulling head. They have photos on the website. It requires professional tools.

And then the joints come out again & you're back to square one. No thanks! Reline it with a stainless steel liner.
@CP-pf6gx6 ай бұрын
@@thegreatwhite75 Yeah but if you go with a liner, you have to install a fireplace insert as well, which is pretty costly. A conventional fireplace cannot accept a liner alone, that doesn't make code since there is no approved adapter to the get the liner sealed with the damper. Also that would eliminate the smoke chamber.
@thegreatwhite756 ай бұрын
@@CP-pf6gx Wrong. You don't necessarily "HAVE" to have a fireplace insert......"PROVIDED".... you can fit a big enough liner down the flue to vent it for use as a conventional fireplace. The liner stops at the bottom of the flue tiles/top of the smoke chamber, then fireproof insulation is stuffed up between the liner & tiles, along with mesh to close off the gap & to hold the poured in insulation that is poured down from the top. Then the smoke chamber is recoated/shaped right up to the bottom of the liner. Then a top sealing damper & you're good to go. Although a GOOD insert with a full, insulated, stainless steel liner WOULD be MY preference.....so that you can actually keep your heat in the house vs losing all your heat up & out the chimney with a conventional fireplace. But it all depends on what people want. Some people only want their fireplace for the ambiance.

the uk now we have old chimneys so the are cleaned lined with a insulated stainless steal liner then used. we really dont see a soot build up like the old brick chimneys, less porous?

Good afternoon. Very good video, thank you. But my main question is, if I want to earn money and clean chimneys, what documents do I need? Do I need a license?

Very old fashioned way of cleaning a flue system, tiles, or stainless steel .

@@ChimneyMonkey I think you can also I don’t know. I’m just guessing, but I have seen sandblasting of brick houses that have graffiti on them and it takes all the graffiti off without damaging the brick and I think sandblasting would be the easiest way to do that chimney cleaning as well, but I guess someone can try it.
