A loan is a loan. You have to pay interest for the loan. If you get a loan from Japan at a lower interest rate, good for you. If you get a loan from China at a higher interest rate choose the former. What debt trap! You guys go back to school. No one force you to pay higher interest rate.

@@lindaho4554 When Marcos Jr. was elected President, his first trip was China. At that time China and the Philippines have a good relationship. Subsequently, Marcos made a trip to US, the relationship between China and the Philippines took a 180° turn. Marcos Sr. has lots of properties in the US due to his past corruptions. So, the US would not allow Morcos Jr. to touch these properties, if he did not follow the US intructions. That is why the Philippines are causing lots of proplems in the South China Sea. Newsflash: China doesn't owe the Philippines a single dime or dollar. If the Philippines doesn't like the terms of Chinese loans/investments, the Philippines is free to look elsewhere for funding... Many countries in Southeast Asia and around the world enjoy the benefits of Chinese infrastructure investments, the only ones complaining about it are countries that have little to no Chinese infrastructure investments to begin with and therefore really don't have a right to lecture those countries that have first-hand experience with Chinese investments and enjoy the benefits of it...

Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos Sr. was a Filipino politician and lawyer who served as the tenth president of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986. Marcos ruled the country as a dictator under martial law from 1972 to 1981, and with vastly expanded powers under the 1973 Constitution until he was deposed by a nonviolent revolution in 1986. According to source documents provided by the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG), the Marcos family stole US$5 billion-$10 billion from the Central Bank of the Philippines. The PCGG also maintained that the Marcos family enjoyed a decadent lifestyle, taking away billions of dollars from the Philippines between 1965 and 1986. Reference: Wikipedia

Spain and US? I don't know about those 2, but in terms of infra loans, I don't hear them offering any ODA in the Philippines. As for China, PH decided to decline most of their offers because of high interest rates compared to Japan. That's why most of the big-ticket projects now came from Japan or South Korea. For the longest time, Japan has been offering good and affordable loan agreements, so why change it if it isn't broken? Especially that China's belt and road initiative has been uncovered to be just a debt trap.

I think the US only job there is to encourage businesses to invest there. But in terms of ODA for infra projects, it remains to be seen if US will be of help. @@Paul-McBWell, America would have gotten more from the Philippines if they didn’t betray their Filipino counterparts and massacre their people in the Philippine American war. In fact, the Philippines would have easily been annexed and became one of the biggest US state if the American people themselves never saw the atrocities and soured to the idea of Annexing the nation. It became so unpopular in America back then that even Mark Twain spoke out against it so much. That said, you can’t exactly downplay the bases America got from the Philippines either. Subic, for instance, is a massive port that provided America a front seat to the South China Sea, which enabled the country to sail and trade uncontested.

China did not fail Flips. Bobo failed Flips, Flips threw out China cooperation partnership and investments, and China trade. Flips has so much wealth, sold 4 new military bases, in addition to the existing 5, for $500M military aid. The military aid is a drawdown on disused weapons in the US military junkyards. Since Bobo took office in Malacanang, just count and add US and Japanese investment, have they more than replaced all the Chinese investments and with more coming? Is Flips any better today and going forward than what has been achieved? Flips seemingly improved from growing bananas to making hi-tech banana chips. Estimates are that Flips will be needing to import a record amount of rice as much as 5M tons, yet it claims to be the world’s top rice producer for about 11M tons. The price of rice is set to rise for the rest of the year into 2025. The Flips government blames it on imported inflation that makes food unaffordable to the 60% of the people, half of whom are homeless. And as always, like the Americans, the poor and homeless have themselves to blame, while the government is working hard to throw the Chinese out and get the Americans and Japanese to come in. Where are them all now? In the West Philippines Sea waiting to see the change from playing international war games and shouting matches to shooting awesome fireworks. So were we told, in the days of Adam and Eve, there was no rice, they had only water, not until Jesus, was then there served blood for a drink.

@@porkyvonchop6458 bObO’s new economic strategy: more salt, then eat less rice; get the people alarmed on a Chinese threat and invasion, the people will then forget about their poverty and hunger; get them to pray hard for king and country, the king above everybody else deserves first entry thru the gates of Heaven and to be seated on the right side of God. Ferdy on the left and Fredy on the right. Who do you think should be seated in the front and at the back?

Nothing good has ever come from the Bisakol's pivot to the changs. Good thing your so-called Bobo cut off ties with the weasel changs before they completely buried the flips in debt thanks to the Bisakol and his cronies' greed for chink money.

not so fun fact: duterte used to say in his campaign during his candidacy that he will go to south china sea on a jet ski to chase away the Chinese Pirates. but after winning the election, he suddenly became so submissive and loyal to Winnie Xi Pooh. even went as far as saying that the Arbitration Ruling was just a piece of paper. One would wonder what happened after his visit to Beijing. 😂
