Last time I visited Syria in 2008, when I was a 9 year old kid, it was a prosperous country...We lived near the Latakia Port and it was so amazing and I have fond memories of playing football in the neighborhood and eating special delicacies everyday. We visited Aleppo, Homs and Damascus and at that time it was flooded with western tourists and picturesque buildings....That 2011 Arab Springs, Civil war and further attacks have dented the country but not the spirits of people living there who survived the war....Kuddos to Paramvir sir to bring the Present Syrian life.....

Maloula is a holy place where Christian’s from 1st century live. They speak language syriac the language Jesus Christ used. Syrian Christian’s in Kerala are still connected to Christian community in Syria. The supreme head of Syrian Orthodox Church in Kerala is based in Damascus If you visit patriarch centre in Bab Thouma, Damascus, you will find monks from Kerala

Yes; they still live there. This relation is lasting over 1000 years and withstood world wars, communal riots, genocide, atrocities. Orthodox Christian monks are buried in various churches in Kerala. Around 10 such charges are pilgrim centres now and they have records over 1000 years The last bishop to come and die in Kerala was patriarch of Syriac Orthodox Church in 1932 after fleeing from genocide executed by Turkish Ottoman Empire in 1915. Today’s his 90th Death anniversary and celebrated in many Syriac Christian churches in Kerala

Their country has been destabilized in a covert proxy conflict between SYR-Russia-IRN on one side, and the US-barbaric Gulf dictatorships on the other. But the fact and fear of ethnic cleansing and the war between govt and FSA still takes place as skirmishes... U might find Kalashnikovs lurking around and majority of the fights benefits the militants or terror camps....
