Today is my birthday and I wanted to share with you the story of rockentry and how it all started. This channel continues to grow with your love and support, grateful for each and every one of you. I wrote a book about my story If you're interested to learn more about how my life was before in-depth and how climbing has impacted my life, here's the link on Amazon: The Crux ( My personal memoir on climbing ) → amzn.to/2V5Z83v Huge thanks to my talented climber and filmmaker Long Truong.

Secondly, thank you for sharing your story, it's so beautiful to see how climbing has changed your life and turned you into a new man, wishing you all the success in the future :) By far one of the greatest content creators, and someone who I'm sure has been inspiring many other peopl than myself. I rarely comment on videos. But your authenticity and vulnerability story compelled me to respond. I've been watching your older videos from 3-4 years ago as they've really helped at my intermediate climbing level. Seeing you freely share your process also made me curious about your backstory, which I'm so glad you've now shared. Just like you, climbing was so pivotal (and still is) during my time of depression and grief. It's comforting to hear that I'm not alone. Can't wait to read your book : )

Hola, Oswaldo!!! I'm from Mexico City. I will write this message in both Spanish and English. I just loved your video, bro!!! It moved me so much, because I'm going through a similar thing with my mom right now. It all started on January 2022 when she tripped at home and broke her hip at landing. It was hard, given the fact I'm an only child and I didn't have anyone to give me a hand. After her surgery, where she got a titanium replacement for her hip and femur, we went back home to face the slow rehab process, however, in March she begun having these excruciating pain on her left side right after eating anything. After many different medics and tests, we got the bad news. It was colon cancer. Ella fue operada por segunda vez en el año en junio. Le removieron 20 cm de intestino para quitar el tumor, pero el cáncer se había extendido a los pulmones, lo que obligaba a comenzar con la quimioterapia. She was intervened for the second time in a year on June. She got 20 cm of intestine removed to take out the tumor, alas, the cancer had already spread to her lungs, so chemotherapy was the next step. Tomorrow we'll be facing her 7th round of chemo out of 8. Thankfully, she has been responding quite well to the treatment. Coincidentally, yesterday I found an escape to all of this at a climbing gym I found in town. It helped me clear my head and get away from this constant depression and fear I've been living in for the past full year now. I'm so excited for this new trip I'm embarking on rock climbing!!! Gracias por tu atención y seguiré aprendiendo gracias a tus videos. Thanks for your kind attention and I'll keep on learning from your vids!!! Abrazos, bro!!!

I went through a similar situation with my mom. She passed 6 years ago now. Two months before my first daughter was born. I felt like I was failing her as I watched her struggle through the cancer treatment . After, I worked too much, worried too much , became obsessed with making sure my family would have everything they needed if I got sick. It’s taken me this long and two kids to realize that all a parent ever wants is for their kids to love their lives full, free and happy. It wasn’t my job to stop cancer from taking my mom or my job to make the chemo, the radiation the surgeries bearable, but it was my job to live the life she gave me like it was a gift I appreciated. You are a gift to your mom and I’m sure this is exactly what she wants for you.

Got back into climbing back in February of this yesr and it has helped with my inner demons..u see myself changing with each month of climbing..so I totally get what you mean when you just wanted to climb and get better..I for one, just want to climb to get better and beat my negative thoughts..that feeling you get when you finish a route on the wall is so fulfilling there's almost no comparison to the felling you get. Thanks for all the great content and im digging the video shorts on your channel too. Happy Birthday.

The story is heartwarming, and even though you can never compare stories, I feel for you. My father unfortunately died of cancer a few years ago, and after that, I fell into a pretty big hole. Then Corona broke out, and I didn't move much anymore, gaining 15 kilos over the years. That made me feel uncomfortable with myself. Fortunately, I then discovered bouldering for myself. Since then, I've been going 3-4 times a week, have met wonderful people and have managed to heal myself. Thank you for sharing a part of your life. It warmed my heart.
