What do you mean by trail center? In the US and specifically in places like the North East and Vermont 'trail centers' are usually just public land that is maintained by well organized volunteer groups. Specifically in vermont we have dozens and dozens of 'trail centers' that are seperate from bike parks and are on public/private land. Theoretically they are multi use trails, however they are pretty much exclusively used for biking and are built for that purpose. And most of those networks are relatively old and have been ridden by people for decades before greater organization occured with nonprofit geoups like Vermont Mountain Bike Association or North East Mountain bike Association. I think its weird for this guy to say that trail centers are a UK thing that got exported. As this was happening in the UK it was also happening all over the world, no one country invented what MTB trails or networks could look like.

In the UK a trail centre is a centre that just has trails for mountain bikes. The usual colour grading but the trails are for bikes only. You ride or drive there, then play on the trails and go home. Some have a bike shop and cafe and some have a few more things but in essence, turn up and ride.

Wait, stop. How can you two not know Coed-y-Brenin and Betws-y-Coed were the first trail centres at the turn of the century?.. Wales was the only place to go, like a mecca. Oh i feel old 😂 I kept bumping into Rowan for years all over the uk back in the mid 2ks and early '10s 👍
