Well, my budgie flew away 2 years ago, but I kept him covered, so u don't need to worry, and In my country, there is no snow, only fog 👀

Every night i put a blanket over them to let them know it's night time for them, and so they can stay warm. Also i try to keep the temperature warm for them.

Putting your birdcage in direct sunlight (right by the window) is also not a good thing to do, since sudden changes in temperature are not good for birds. Instead maybe turn on a heater

For those who don't have house heating for any reason....If you have a metal bucket or very large saucepan or a large ceramic flower pot, you can place it over an incandescent bulb light under the cage. It's important to block the light escaping. The heat will travel upwards. You can trap the heat with a sheet over the cage. If no electricity, fill up jars of hot water and place them in a plastic thermus box. The heat will gradually radiate out.

Thus far I have been keeping my house warmer than usual.It's better to be safer than sorry.I can't make them wear slippers ,scarves and extra sweaters.I've covered doors with quilts to stop drafts.It goes down to -40 in Québec.

I love winter because I love to wear long pyjamas. I keep my budgie outside but to keep him warm I will wrap his cage with blankets. When it is 20 degrees celcious+ I wrap his cage with one layer. When it is 15 to 19 degrees celcious+ I wrap his cage with two layers. When it is 0 to 14 I wrap his cage three times. This keeps him nice and cozy no matter what the conditions are. ( I have never needed to wrap with four layers before)

Budgies can take somewhat low temperatures. The deadly factor for budgies is a DRAFT! That's when they will get a cold - and a cold invades their whole body because they have hollow bones (like DINOSAURS!). As such, a cold is imminently fatal.

I specifically bought a cooler/heater so that we could use it all season. My birds also have this plastic cage covers (bought from pet shop) and i only let the front part of the cage exposed so that they would not be suffocated, then i covered them with towel at night ang keep the heater on until 4am and turn it on again at 5am because it's kinda chilly during those hours. I'm most concerned about my babies (birds and cat) getting cold that's why im always making sure they're comfortable and warmed.🐦❤️

arid zones in Aus frequently get below 0 and as low as -10c.... and above 40c in summer (sometimes also in winter!). They'll be fine. Get a real bird like a macaw...
