Nah, it's a game that looks like Monster Hunter that needs to do some work on it's monster attack and reaction animations. Make no mistake though, if Monster Hunter World wasn't coming out, the majority would be salivating over it.

This reminds me a lot of Monster Hunter in a very good way. There is enough unique features that I saw to set it apart from MH but also a lot of similarities that make me quite excited to play. Going to wait for more to see how it progresses but this is now very much on my radar.

dark souls didnt invent bossfights. this type of games have existed way before the age of any souls game. the souls games were litterarly created for the sole purpose of recreating the "hard games"-experience of the "old" days.

People complain that it's like poor-man's Monster Hunter. The problem is there isn't a game like this currently available on PC or Console that isn't exceptionally outdated/allows just good fun, group hunting. The Alpha so far is pretty good, and MHW next year will be a step in the right direction.

"most satisfying attack animations I've ever seen" Does that meant they finally fixed it? Good lord, you couldn't use that hammer jump without getting stuck on the monster. Like literally stuck on the monster until your character slid off (which lasted a good couple seconds so you'd probably get hit in that time)

I have nothing against the game but all the points you listed are things in Monster Hunter.Sure not every game is the same but overall they share similar gameplay.If Dauntless can add something to the 4 player co-op of MH that's great.Maybe when they add more unique stuff to the game I'll give it a shot.

Monster Hunter is good, its just people nowadays think you can't like and play multiple games of the same genre or that one game HAS to be objectively superior to another for the shallow-est of reasons. Me personally I'm looking forward to Dauntless AND Monster Hunter:World, and I'll probably continue playing both so long as I continue finding them fun rather than prematurely judging them before I get my hands on either.

Zender Zagato, that's the source of his confusion. If the appeal of MonHun isn't the graphics, then why is the playerbase passing Dauntless up because of its graphics. Though, this isn't what I found. I've found a bunch of people passing up this chance just because it isn't what they had before. The people I've seen are essentially ignoring Dauntless because it isn't MonHun, which is worse than the prior. Edit: (realising the possibility of misinterpreting my last point) by "worse than the prior" I mean that the people described in the second paragraph are worse than the ones described in the first. At least they have some semblance of an argument.

So i've read somewhere that said "At least Dauntless will have less Japanese players". I agree that language barrier is a big obstacle, but imho, Japanese players has the best online gaming attitude/manner. Imagine if you were playing with people that: 1- Leavers, 2-Troll, 3-Highly Toxic, 4-Bots (RMT), 5-etc All games has these people, but Japanese game has the least. Maybe i prefer MH becoz of these.

Honestly, i was interested in this game (As a MH Fan), but the weapons feel weightless, the combat is much more forgiving than MH. I will give it a try, its on pc and its free, but i dont think it will hook me long.

I do hope that the visual and auditory feedback changes. The moment where swinging a greatsword at a scaled enemy makes the same sounds as my butterknife when cutting my sandwiches in half does, it makes me yawn. From the footage it also looks a lot stiffer than let´s say MH3. Right now I´m hesitant, but I do understand it´s still in development. But to me it looks like they need a lot of spit and polish

So basically, the combat is just multiplayer Dark Souls but a little easier mixed with Monster Hunter in the enemies and weapons. Boom, only took me one sentence! Really good video though, this actually informed me of dauntless. Oh yea, and if you think Dark Souls combat is twitch based, you're probably playing very fast and loose which is a viable strategy, but I personally think through fights after watching the opponent(s). Though, I am talking about the heavy enemies and the bosses.
