For anyone reading, I run 6e and me and my table fucking love it. I've gotten more "dude amazing sesh I can't wait til next week" than I have in a longgg time playing DnD 5e. It took a lot of figuring out as a GM and about three days for learning character creation for the table but it was all worth it in my opinion. The book has problems. Yes. I do not regret buying it at all, wish I got it sooner. And yes, its super edgy. But man, thats like you said the neon 80s charm. I play it like a twist on the futures from Demo man and Bladerunner, and even a good bit of Idiocracy and Cyberpunk 2077. I don't know what you're doing wrong but it works for us, we've had so many amazing encounters on our runs. I think coming from DnD 5e makes this a lot easier to be honest

I’ve run 4e, pathfinder and 5e D&D games for years now. I really want to run a shadowrun game. Only because I know I’ll never be able to play it myself so GMing a game is as close as I’ll get. However I’m really terrified that my group will not understand 6e. It’s complicated and I would be learning with them.

As someone who hasnt played SR for about 2 decades, I dont see a problem with how attack-rating and armor interact, sure its abstract but armor still provides protection, just not in terms of dice-pools. for example: an average human (2 body) in an armored jacket (+4) half concealed by a car (+2) has a DV of 8. Meaning he gets an Edge vs light machine-guns, 1/3 of rifles, and all SMGs and pistols. With that 1 Edge he can make the attacker reroll a successful die (or one of his own, but odds are better to force them to do it), on either the attack or dmg roll, or he can avoid the penalties for taking the standard drop prone ("Hit The Dirt") action. He can also combine it with Edge from previous sources to straight-up buy hits.

www.reddit.com/r/Shadowrun/comments/cq2del/armor_up_an_armor_selection_cheat_sheet_for_sr6e/ Any amount of defense rating from cover, armor, etc, is negated by the opponent aiming with a scope.

Yea the complaints about that just sound like he's used to the regular system and doesn't like it changing. The idea that armor prevents damage rather than "soaking" it, makes more sense to me. Bullets that don't make it through your armor don't hurt. Once it's through, why would the armor help.

They should cut out the cheesiness. This is a serious game about orcs and elves and magicians using futuristic technology.

I feel like they should have revamped the combat a bit more. It honestly sounds like they want to be fantasy age but with wanting more d6s than you can throw.

6E is just a different type of complicated, it's definitely not better, in fact it's a lot worse. I can't believe this mess got through editing and playtesting.

Hey can you do a deep dive on artificing and enchanting I've been looking for a video to help me play My tallies monger

Go ahead and make videos about the 6E system, people need to be warned before they buy it and the developers need to be warned against putting out crap and expecting people to put up with it.

The game is 30 years old. Why are they still writing the books like high schoolers will be the "Only" people playing it? I was 30 the first time I played/GM a game. I love the setting & the mix of magic, meta humans & tech. I just wish they'd do a better job on the rules & editing.

SR 6ed; D&D 5e and Vampire 5e: how they ruin our games! They are creating RPG for babies that don't like to read and hard rules!
