I imagine the rowboat doesn't count as a part of your ship, and thus the items on it don't get despawn protection so at some point the game despawns them. But that conflicts with the fact that the chest of sorrow DOES fill your ship when it's in the rowboat, but somehow not when someone carries it while chilling on the ladder. So it's not like the chest of sorrow has a water radius, it just counts the rowboat as part of the ship.

@@JonBardcore Me and a buddy had something even weirder happen once before. MID PVP BATTLE all of our resource barrels and loot just despawned Noone got on our ship, I literally saw our lootpile disappear in front of my eyes. The only thing that was left, was the new stuff among standard supplies. Like you know how they recently increased starting supplies? We only had those extra 20 cannon balls and 8 coconuts per food barrel that they added left, everything else was gone. So I feel like for some reason everything on our ship was deleted, but the recently added extra supplies may have somehow not bugged out because they are a new addition so in Rares spaghetti code they might've handled those differently. I was definitely not happy to suddenly lose all loot, all wood and almost all cannon balls mid battle.

@@JonBardcore It's been a couple weeks but I believe it was HG. So my theory is that while we were transfered to another server, instead of maintaining my supplies while changing servers, the programm removed them. But due to the newly added supplies staying, I'm guessing that the newly added supplies are handled somewhat differently in their now more modern code and loaded in as a "bonus" basically, while the old supplies are probably still the old code and didn't get updated. That would explain how it removed all my supplies, but then added back the "bonus" supplies. Anyways, we didn't have a big streak, but I really don't like HG at all tbh, the concept is brilliant, the execution is a buggy mess.

...the rowboat just have bugs. I still occasionally drop the row just to have it "land" out of level and be bugged out. Luckily, the harpoon ones can usually draw themselves back up to the water surface.

There is a 3 hour timer on loot that is not on your ship, if the loot has not been touched for that time it will despawn. Looks like a rowboat is not part of the ship and subject to this limit. I assume that Rare put this in as part of server management, too many items in the server can cause instability and crash the game. Also, if they were to have the timer on the ship many Pirates would be very upset!

This would make sense. I had it happen to me too twice now. And it happens when you manually drop stuff on the rowboat as well. Not just with the harpoon. And it's definetly time related. I will test the actual amount of time, though. I thought it was two hours.

this is also true for the mast and crow's nest. if you store loot there it is consider not on the ship and will despawn in 2-3 hours if untouched.

If the goal is to get rich by selling commodities, it's better to cycle through all outposts in a circle, buying every commodity and separating them by type, and every time you reach an outpost sell the sought-after ones at grade 5 for even bigger profit. By the time you make an entire loop as a solo (no time wasted, stocking on outposts, organizing between outposts, ignoring everything else) the cooldown timer for the first commodity you bought should have expired by now, giving you a constant flow of buying and selling. using this method also means that you can stop playing whenever you want, by just not buying any more commodities in one outpost, selling everything but the surplus on that outpost, and go to a nearby one to sell the surplus ones (to get neutral sell price instead of minimum, like in reapears). It's one of the most boring things you can do it the game (mostly for having to organize every type of commodity, and know where they are), but the profits speak for themselves.

Agreed with all the above, but the mitigating factor is the additional treasure that you can get through World Event Hunting, Vaults or even Treasuries. You won't get any bonuses on those treasures, unless merchant if you kept the flag up but by doing so make you more of a target for any other ships, especially Reaper ones.

that rowboat bug happened to me once while i was grinding the hunter's call. i had a crate full of fish and baits then about 3 mins i spent trying to catch a fish the crate dissapeared. i left the rowboat there (it was right next to the sea post) and went back to my ship and killed myself then returned there with the ship and the crate was there. luckly i get to sell everything thats inside and it didnt just dissapeared entirely :D maybe thats what happened to you

The problem I see with this methode is, that commodities give a higher gold base value, when you sell them to the merchants instad to the reapers.

They absolutely do but the point of it is not the commodities profit, but the profit of your whole treasure stack. We made an extra 150,000 ish gold that we wouldn't have by selling to the Reapers instead of at an outpost.

Just for sake of argument. With the new harpoon mechanic and doing merchant emissary, I made 100,000 gold an hour just doing the straight commodities. No side stuff like he shows here. The trick is to buy the storage crates ie food etc. Not the normal one. This raises your level and basically pays for itself once you turn in at grade 5. Key is to turn everything in to devil's roar port. Happy Thieving.

You can absolutely do that if you want to stick straight to merchant goods. What I am more focusing on here is the ability to do everything, sea forts, treasuries, world events, and just have everything get paid off with bonuses via the commodities turned in first.

If you pull up to a island that no one is at and haven't interacted with anything on the island, use a couple of blunder bombs on yourself to take a trip to the ferry and come back at reset the island. You might get lucky and find a rowboat.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. The point of the video is to show how you can use commodities as a way to maximize returns on investment should you decide to stack treasure. Selling commodities by themselves, while potentially profitable are not going to be incredibly lucrative.

Just out of curiosity, why do you buy voyages from the factions over the shipwright captaincy voyages? Not that it changes anything, I just always find it much more convenient to get all my quests at the same place, and you can stack them much easier as well

@@JonBardcore As far as I'm aware, you can buy any quest individually from the shipwright now. X marks the spot, riddles, bounties, ship fleets, cargo runs, trade routes, lost shipments, veils, ect. All with ashen variants for each. Then the commissions for each of the factions.

Biggest tip from someone with 3k hours… don’t put loot into a rowboat until the very last second. 75+ of any loot could be instantly gone because of the rowboat breaking and sinking. Sadly yours a bug, and my condolences, but saving that small little step on the way there could be the reason you sell 300k or 20k

Not sure your "make lots of money" concept holds up when it includes... playing for hours on end. You probably could have bounced back and forth between a phantom Fortress and nearby sovereign and racked up more money as you plow through several entire Fortress stacks every single hour, and not had the risk of losing the entire play session if you were not under constant alert to the point of being DOWN 15k from starting value rather than maybe resetting your emissary and costing you about 30 min of progress even if you outright don't event try to look out or defend yourself from an armed fortress.

Not quite sure I'm following here: The more time you play, the more opportunity for gold. Even fortress stacking takes time? And selling commodities before selling fortress stacks at Reaper's still means that you get the Grade 5 before hand and max gold.

I don't understand whats so good on this method. It seems to take like 2 hours or so to get all that stuff sailing around and so on. And I don't get the safety (PvE) aspect either because I made the experience that I run into many other ships while sailing so much around and every time it is a crew with at least 2 people so I always lose and have to start again. I don't know if I should try this :/

i was kinda disappointed by this one dude. the title had me curious, but the method in the video is a slightly worse version of selling cargo runs at Reaper's, which has been in the game since the Reaper's Hideout was added. it left me feeling clickbaited by the "NEW GOLD FARM" angle, but hey, clearly this is new to some players

I will say that the point of commodities over cargo is to not worry about them being damaged while you go grind out the gold. Imagine sinking because your hull was already half filled with water because you had a bunch of plants in the lower deck. That's kinda what I'm trying to get at. But point taken! 👍

You get emissary lvl for selling commodities, you can basically be a reaper without being a reaper and then reach grade 5 in secends

The video is more about how you can use the commodities to generate a Grade 5 Reaper Emissary relatively safely before selling whatever you have. So if you stack heavy with all sorts of treasure you could net a ton of gold.
