Just for reference: That solar panel is probably around 2 square meters. An electric car battery is something like 100kWh. The sun shines about 1kW of power per square meter. So even if that solar panel would work at 100% efficiency (best currently is around 30% I believe), it would take 50 sunhours (so anywhere between 4 and 10 days depending on the time of the year) to fully charge. Yeah, every little helps, but the conatruction and maintenance overhead would most likely diminish any gain from harvesting the sun like this. This is why nobody is actively working on something like that.

All that is fine and good but the amount of moving parts that is going to have to go into that will make seriously fixing a strut or a hydraulic pump or the wheel mechanism a nightmare and it will be so expensive that that's not even viable... I'm an automotive technician I'm just having panic attacks thinking about if those ever actually become modern-day vehicles like what will have to go into that to repair them because potholes do exist

Something I don’t think was mentioned was the fact that ball wheels remove a vital function of a car… Driving straight… With a cylindrical wheel, the car will want to move in the direction that the wheels are facing. With ball wheels, turning or moving straight after a turn requires vast amounts of mechanics built into the vehicle. And if your power transmitter goes out or you run out of gas, you have no way to correct the vehicle’s steering. You will have to push the break and pray the car isn’t heading for a ditch or towards the other lane. With a normal car if this happens, power steering is turned off. This has happened to me before. It becomes very difficult to steer but still possible, and you will be moving straight. No promises that car would though. Long story short, ball wheels are bad. If you wanna know why, roll a ball and a cylinder down a slope.

Все начинается с мечты и идеи... Графика достаточно хорошая. Посадка машины очень низкая. При том, что колесо имеет форму шара, достаточно немного сдуть колесо и машина ляжет дном на землю. Потом не продумано крепление колеса, способ его торможения. Просто красивая идея, но ничего не продумано. Пусть каждый лепесток солнечной батареи приблизительно квадратный метр. Десять квадратов маловато. Нужно добавить батареи на капоте на внутренней поверхности коробки для солнечной батареи и на любой другой поверхности, но тогда вес автомобиля очень увеличится. Отсюда выводы: 1. При нынешних вариантах солнечных батарей, рациональнее устраивать поляны из солнечных батарей к которым подъезжают на заправку авто. Тоже выглядит круто. Или просто использовать уже имеющуюся накопленную энергию из внешних источников плюс подзаряжать аккумуляторы во время движения, а потом просто переключить батареи. 2. Нужно новое поколение солнечных батарей. 3. Шар прикасается к земле в одной точке. Это значит,что сцепление с грунтом будет очень недостаточное. Да и габариты увеличиваются. 4. Взять стоящие на парковке два три и больше таких авто. Они будут затенять друг друга... 5. Идеи хорошие, но требуют большой доработки. Успехов вам в вашем творчестве.

Un coche medio necesita cinco paneles solares de 1.7m2 para recargar al completo las baterías, tardando 24 horas. Teniendo en cuenta que la "flor" tiene sumo unos dos metros de diámetro, podemos considerar que es similar a un circulo de 2 metros de diámetro, lo que sería un área de pi m2. El área de los cinco paneles de 1.7m2, por lo que es área de estos sería 2.7 veces mayor que la de la flor. Simplificando, 24 horas por 2.7 veces al ser la flor más pequeña, dan unas 64 horas. Y eso suponiendo que ese coche gasta lo mismo que un eléctrico normal, pero en realidad la transmisión a esas ruedas gastaría más, por lo que para igualar potencia y autonomía necesitaría unas baterías aún mayores, así que las 64 horas de recarga aun serían poco. Así con suerte puedes llenar la batería una vez a la semana mientras lo tienes aparcado en la calle en todo momento y sin poder usarlo mientras.
