Sure crafting/gathering gives player XP but the main problem from the alpha tests is that gear drops are easier to get and all around better than anything you can craft. So Corepunk really needs to still do a bunch of work on it.

I think a lot will change for the next alpha, and significantly more for EA. So yeh, I think they will do that work for sure

i have a friend in xiv/wow who all he does is high end craft and make money. im desperately trying to convince him to get into early access. dude hands out freebies like tic-tacs in exchange for some occasional extra pocket healing and carries through raids for untradables. but he hates moba :(

Depends on what he likes and dislikes about the game. It's far from being a moba for sure. It's 100% an mmorpg. But don't nag him, the game isn't perfect yet and has a long way to develop. Once he sees the fun you're having perhaps he'll want to join in

more then likely i will not play this game if there are to many fail states to crafting and gathering. it always sucks to stop killing monsters, questing, exploring only to fail at gathering and crafting. i dont like feeling like i have to give up an aspect of playing the game for another part.

what a dumb system... i have 1% mining 39% logging 31% herb 29% butchery. so if i want to get that 1 % mining into butchery, i have to first mine once to make sure that its taking it from mining which will bring mining up to 1.5%, THEN butcher twice to get butchery to 30%, then i have to mine again to make sure that the exp is coming from mining cuz itll still be at .5% which will then bring mining UP to 1%... THEN i log and get it up to 40% and mining down to 0%..... and if you mine or gather ANYTHING ELSE while your trying to do all this itll fuck EVERYTHING up so you have to walk by a crazy amount of stuff and look for very specific nodes just to move your exp around...... and btw you can only lock ALL of your gathering skills at once and it takes 100% of your mana... why you cant do one at a time for no mana is BEYOND me.... REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they change this system... its TERRIBLE...

This also bugs me a little. I want to be able to lock individual proficiencies.

This RNG crap is not rewarding, played all alphas and it's bullshit. If you think RNG is rewarding then you are a gaming addict

Pretty much all games have some element of RNG. Every game with a dice is RNG. I mean, you could play chess I suppose but even that there's an element of RNG with who takes the first turn. You can't really avoid it in games. I'd personally find something else to get upset about.
