The only "lucky" goal was the first one with the back pass. The Buffon error went as planned. Lukaku stated in an interview that he told Marcus to shoot his signature shot (a dipping hard ball) that is hard to stop when done properly and that he'd follow up to capitalize in the event of a rebound. Needless to say, it worked to full effect. The penalty was a penalty regardless of what you think. The defender was in the box, turned his body, extended his arm, wasnt looking at the ball before impact, and it hit his arm while heading towards the general area of the goal. As everybody here told you, taking advantage of mistakes by the opponent is not luck.

In a sense this was the worst draw possible for united but perhaps also for barca. Barcelona have a great passing game and can out pass anyone including man city but united have the option to play the "british" way like no other team left in champions league. United are also a passing team but have the players to play a pressing 4-4-2 with the option of the high ball into the box early from the wings. Barcelona play 4--3-3 which means they are vulnerable to being outflanked. United should Play two strikers two wide men and exploit via corners and free kicks out wide Barcelona's weakness in the air at set pieces. Take pique and busquets out and no one can compete in the air properly. Use the wings. Get the corners. Get the big men in the box at set pieces and play for set pieces by getting ball wide at every opportunity. This is the way to win. Smalling hattrick on the cards.. .

I find it a bit hilarious how United´s progression against PSG has been made into a sort of "tactical masterpiece" by the sensationalistic media. It was a fluke win, nothing more! After all United was the team who needed a goal in that second half. The only thing they managed to create was a desperate long range effort which missed goal by about 15 meters. The fact that a defender managed to clumsily block it with his hands doesn´t make it into a victory thanks to a brilliantly functional tactic. If you are completely dominated by your opponents, create basically nothing and have to rely on epic blunders by your opponents to win, you cannot claim that your match plan actually worked. If United choose to play the same way at Camp Nou, I would be very confident as a Barcelona fan! Some teams are luckier than others, but you don´t get epicly fortunate days like that twice in a row. If United want to progress they cannot rely on the same match strategy as against PSG.

PSG are one of the most in form teams in football. Besides Manchester United, they have only lost like once at home all season. Manchester United were 0-2 down, Pogba was banned for one game and had a number of injuries to key players. The second leg was supposed to go only one way, which was for PSG to murder us. Meanwhile Ajax beat an out of form Real Madrid who don’t have Ronaldo anymore. Not taking anything away from Ajax, but Manchester United’s won against an in form PSG at their own home was more of a shock.

Rightly or wrongly, PSG is a club perceived as improving, and their first leg victory against MU was received with a chorus of "we probably should have expected that" in the U.K. Real is a squad in decline, and it took a lot of luck for them to win the CL last year, a game they were getting thoroughly outplayed in until a certain injury. There are reasons Zidane quit, such as the need for a massive overhaul and lack of clarity if the management would give him the right kind of support. Ajax showed amazing skill and energy against Real. Their dribbling and passing in traffic could cause any club problems.

They can’t and won’t. The 1st leg against Barca showcased United’s inability to break teams down especially with Barca and Messi just content with taking a 1-0 lead back to Camp Nou. Barca essentially used the 1st leg to study their opponent and then will punish United in the 2nd leg. I believe the worst decision Solskjaer made was selling Fellaini before the end of the season. It’s games like yesterday and against Wolves that he would’ve been very useful. United supporter.

Barca defend pretty poorly on counter attacks. Almost always Busquets is left behind due to speed of the opposition team's attackers. If Umtiti/Lenglet is taking on the attacker then it is a really bad situation as Pique almost always is too close to the guy with the ball. Effectively both defenders are too close to the attacker and from there, the attacker can give an easy through ball to his team mate. Pique needs to cover the supporting players and trust Umtiti/Lenglet to do their job.
