I didn’t know she had a privileged upbringing until I recently read about her after falling into a Nirvana rabbit hole. Looking back at this story I can now see how Courtney was the horrible influence in Kurt’s life. I truly believe he wanted to get away from her and fame but she needed him for her own success. She’s a narcissistic drug addict who should never have gotten his money or been able to raise their daughter.

He was a terrible husband and awful influence in her life. If he wanted to "get away from her", he had every chance. He literally spelled out that he loved her until the day he died. Cobain was the most unapologetic junkie of them all who actively mocked Love' for attempting to quit heroin in 1993 - calling her "detox queen" sarcastically and reacting violently to anyone who even questioned his drug use. She had to raise their daughter alone because he checked out on his child and she was completely entitled to his money - she was his wife. She paid off his Kerslake lawsuit without any guarantee she'd even get her money back but his obsessed fans don't seem to acknowledge that.

Anyone who's ever had a problem with drugs knows that yes you make many,many stupid decisions but drugs take over your life without you realizing it until it's too late. And two junkies trying to navigate life together? Forget about it. A relationship where drugs are what your life revolves around... getting them, using them, coming down from them..rinse, repeat over and over and over, will never be a healthy relationship at the fault of neither person. The fault lies with the drugs. The frustrating thing is that deep down you know that but sometimes you're as addicted to the other person as you are to the drugs and it's hard getting away from both. Getting clean isn't the hard part, staying clean is. I think they loved each other as much as an addict is capable of loving someone . They just weren't good for each other. They never could be because the odds uf staying clean is slim, you try over and over and hopefully you'll be in the small percentage that gets it. It takes work. But the odds of both of them getting to that point at the same time? You'd have a better chance of winning a billion dollar lottery I think. I don't think it was the fault of either one of them. The stars just weren't aligned..if he'd lived and they'd met a lot later and if each had gotten clean before then..who knows but they'd at least had a chance at a healthy relationship. But IF frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their ass when they jumped.
