The fact that a Vong warrior gave Darth Maul such a hard fight, really shows how formidable the Yuuzhan Vong were. The fact that Maul was still able to win, despite only fighting with his bare hands, truly shows how formidable Maul was

Didn't really give him that hard a fight, he took one punch that seemed like he didnt even try to avoid and was wrapped with the staff for a minute. He absolutely decimated the vong in every way when you look at the whole fight. He legit held him down and stitched his lips closed lol

I've been wanting this book for a while now, not only do I want it more, but you've made me see my favorite character in Star Wars as an even bigger badass.

I finished the book a few months back, and I absolutely loved it. I actually read every book and comic Maul related, even Darth Plagueis and Ahsoka, because they both feature him on a small level. Maul Lockdown is probably my favorite, it shows just how technical and calculating Maul was in combat, but also how brilliant he was with planning and even hacking. Moreover, we saw just how impressive his physicality truly was here. The book completely captured why Maul was Sidious' first Sith Apprentice. It also showed he wasn't entirely evil, and cared about people like Komari Vosa and Eogan Truax to some extent.

I think the novels give the Vong too much advantage credit for being cut off from the force. While the force can't affect them directly, it can affect them indirectly. It would be a simple matter to use TK to turn a pile of sharp metal bits into a shrapnel tornado ... and use that to shred dozens of Vong at the same time.

The yuuzhan vong were originally the sole reason Revan turned to the darkside before the idea was scrapped for TOR. The Darkside of the Force exists specifically for opponents like this.

I think that that war would have been a good time for the sith and the jedi to unite, and feed off each others' strengths. Sure, they would most likely split up afterwards and go back to fighting each other, but an invasion like that would threaten both groups, and so they could unite to form a super powerful force

Some had theorized that Palpatine created the empire and the death star because he was preparing for a Vong invasion. What i would be cool would be jedi and sith relunctantly and temporarily working together to defeat the Vong.

he could have been a battle scout looking to test his strength agents different races in the galaxy before the invasion. testing the individual races strength and weaknesses before reporting back to the main fleet. I think that could be why he never bothered trying to escape as he was in a win win he could fight all day long agents the roughest of various creatures to his hearts content and gaining insight to to the combat ability's of the different creatures of the the star wars galaxy.

I think the advantage would have been with the sith/the empire; wasn't it even mentioned, that palpatine knew about an outside incursion of an unknown species? Wasn't that even one of the main reasons for the megalomanic effort to unite the galaxy by all cost? I mean besides the lust for power ofc. But IRC Palpatine was scared af of that invasion, he knew what was coming, and i think many souls have been lost because of the rebel uprising in the longrun. Would the Empire still have existed in its "glory" as palpatine wanted it to be at the time of the invasion, the incursion wouldn't have ended as badly as it has.

Can the UNSC and the Covenant survive and beat the Angel Zeruel from Evangelion on Earth when the Covenant first attacked? The vong maul encountered, was maybe a deep space scout. The sith would have a better constitution and battle strategy to combat the vong definitely. Jedi would really have to be very brutal and efficient, general Anakin Skywalker would have been a good allie against the vong. Maul would certainly have a thing or 2 to teach anakin when fighting them. In this scenario of course.

The Sith definitely would have been a better opponent for the Vong in my opinion. Their lack of morals and power hungry natures would have lead them to exploit any advantage and take more extreme measures that the Jedi would be unwilling to attempt. Plus a Sith-lead government would be more proactive against the Vong's incursions and would have prevented them from getting the beach-head that they achieved against against the New Republic's more lax and inactive government.
