I’m attempting this now. I consistently am able to get the copper pickaxe on day 2 without any clay farming. The key is to sell the parsnip seeds and to process the geodes. You will likely get some copper and you will definitely get a museum donation. Then on day two, fish all day until going to Clint’s. Smelt while you fish, open treasure chests and go for bubbles spots. Three times in a row I have been able to get the pick in on day 2 with no clay farming. I know it’s technically not a cheat, but clay farming is not the way the game is meant to be played, so it’s more satisfying without clay farming. However, I struggle to get down in the mines with 10 coffees. I can only get to level 50-60 by 2am no matter what. I want to get down to 120 like I saw another KZbinr do who used spicy eels as well, but I don’t see how I would afford the spicy eel on top of the coffees. Finally, a tip for level 2 mining. On day 4 after you get your pick, go back to your farm and pick rocks until you get to level 2 mining. You will need staircases.

You can buy stuff, open geodes and upgrade your tools at the blacksmith until when Clint leaves at 7 just make sure you're in the shop when it closes

Open the menu when going down ladders and use a predictor for clay and ladders and maybe get to level 2 by mining rocks on the farm before day 5

When I read the title, I thought you meant on Spring 1. Like maybe you were using the scythe glitch to get in early? I feel like doing that is hardly worth it given how time consuming it is, and besides, there no way to get enough mining food on Spring 1 for a decent dive.
