I'm 44 years old from NYC (Knicks fan) and growing up watching Penny to now my opinion stands a non injury Penny can run with anyone and give them fits. He had it all. When teammates of Michael Jordan openly said Jordan got frustrated dealing with him you know how great he was and how great he could of reached.
@ragna87322 ай бұрын
Petey Hardaway was definitely him in the 90s. If he would’ve stayed healthy, that debate would’ve been between him and Kobe.
@DannyP-dm1pwАй бұрын
If Shaq never leaves Orlando you can even say maybe Penny don't get hurt or less pressure to carry team and thing is if Shaq stays would Kobe even have the career he did. Those first 3 LA titles could easily have been Orlandos of Penny and Shaq dominating the East for years. Post Bulls the East really had no solid team until 2004 Detroit winning. The Nets and 76ers got to the finals but they were no match for LA those years. Orlando could of been some epic finals of Shaq and Penny vs Duncan and the Spurs. Alternate Timeline of fantasy of course.

The only team Jordan ever, and I mean EVER actually admitted being afraid of.
@DannyP-dm1pwАй бұрын
Jordan never admitted to being afraid of Orlando. Not once. Jon Koncak said this "I vividly remember Michael being so frustrated that he couldn't stop him" - Michael Jordan's teammate noticed his difficulty guarding Penny Koncak said it was the first time he saw Jordan had a difficult time guarding anyone. And Penny did give Jordan problems but Jordan also gave them back.
@vyrezbeatz1159Ай бұрын
@DannyP-dm1pw 🤦🏽♂️ Jordan admitted that they were the only team he was afraid of until Shaq fucked up and tried to help him off the ground when he dunked and knocked him down. Do your RESEARCH. Jordan is the GOAT but this is the only team to ever make him nervous, until he seen a small weakness that he used as ammo to get past it.
@DannyP-dm1pwАй бұрын
@@vyrezbeatz1159 Penny was the only player I really ever see give Jordan problems but I never read anything documented of Jordan himself stating this and I'm a giant NBA 90's fanatic. Not saying you wrong. I know his former teammate Jon Koncack made the statement about Penny but that's all I could find. I think Shaq tried to help Jordan up his rookie year. Penny was not there yet and Orlando his rookier year was not a good team at all. Penny and then Horace Grant coming made that team a problem. Dam shame they didn't stick together. Penny still top 3 fav of all time.
@vyrezbeatz1159Ай бұрын
@@DannyP-dm1pw Ok so with you really having good insight on 90s basketball, I have a question for. I can't find this information anywhere, but I know it happened. Was David Robinson the reason Penny started having the injuries. I remember him being involved with his first injury, and then there was a snowball effect. It's like a Mandala effect or something as if it never took place, I'm hoping you can possibly remember. Because I can't find any footage or anything showing this, but I remember. Thanks in advance.

@@vyrezbeatz1159 Penny first injury that started the trail was Joe Dumars banging into the back of his knee I believe during the 1997 playoffs. It was the first year with Shaq in LA. I only know this because Penny was on up in smoke and then recently on Shaq's podcast. One of those he goes into details. I didn't realize it was Dumars . Fluke accident of course.
