NFL Defensive Coordinators already know this. But knowing it and being able to stop it on a consistent basis are 2 different things.

If smith had a QB that was a true pocket passer he would be a true number 1 WR ,but hurts can't lead him,can't anticipate throws or throw a WR open , the amount of times smith is open at the beginning of a route and hurts can't get the ball out fast enough is way too many so a good #2 receiver he is until he plays with a elite QB

Thanks for the vid. On that CJGJ touchdown, he almost got the interception. You think he was playing for the INT the whole time?
@PhillyFilmRoom8 сағат бұрын
@DruGOATBOY I'm sure he was but if he was playing with better leverage go start he would've been in a better position to make a play on the ball
@AlejandroPerez-if7mc7 сағат бұрын
@@PhillyFilmRoom Question, "better leverage" is a bit of a lottery here isn't it? If the TE cuts inside like Devonta vs the Falcons it would have been "good leverage". Is it expected from the safety to detect the playtype in the first seconds of the play and adapt his leverage as soon as he knows who he is responsible for?
@PhillyFilmRoom6 сағат бұрын
@AlejandroPerez-if7mc he has low and inside help and it looks like they're having Baun carry #3 more than usual (common RZ adjustment) plus there's a chance for help from the opposite safety inside. When playing defense, it's impossible to take away everything. If you play with inside leverage you're more susceptible to outside routes and vice versa. That's why you want to use your leverage in conjunction with your teammates around you. CJ probably would've played the route better if he didn't gain so much depth either, there's no need to get that deep when the back of the end zone is another help defender.
