As a brother I'd support Dexter. I'd believe he's doing good by getting rid of bad guys. I would hope he sticks to a moral code because if I know then that makes me an accomplice. There would be a lingering thought that if Dexter ever dropped his code I may be looked on as a loose end. As long as I have no physical proof of Dexter's activities I'd always feed safe with him.

I don’t even care that Dexter is a serial killer. I’m obsessed with him! Well obviously in a real life situation I’d feel different but theoretically, for the sake of the video, if I knew he only killed other killers who slipped through the cracks, and didn’t harm innocent people I wouldn’t turn him in to the cops unless he started hurting innocent people. And he’s pretty manipulative and good at covering up his “dark passenger” so maybe would get tricked by his manipulation and charm.

Dexter lies to himself and to the audience. He claims that he is bringing justice by catching those who wouldn't be caught otherwise. But he also deliberately uses his position within the police to tamper with evidence and mislead the police, including in the case of the Trinity Killer. Season 4 is the Best in the whole show, but if Dexter hadn't interfered because he wanted to be the one to take Trinity down, the police would have caught him. Then Rita wouldn't have died.

Dexter is no hero. He never gave his full attention to his job, his wife Rita (who Dexter caused to be brutally murdered), his children or his sister. Astor and Cody lost both parents because of Dexter and eventually Dexter lost touch with them. He stole huge cases that would have been solved by Miami Metro Homicide like Trinity because he needed to kill. Dexter knew Deb's job was on the line for Miami Metro's dismal solve rate and even though Batista was always in Dexter's corner, Dexter continued to use his position in the police dept. to steal cases from them. The last killer, Oliver Saxon offered him a truce that he should have taken. Dexter knew that Miami Metro had Saxon's DNA showing he was Dr. Vogel's son and Dexter could have told the police that he witnessed Saxon killing Dr. Vogel or sent the videos of Saxon killing his victims to the police and Saxon would have gone to death row. Instead, Dexter sets a chain of events into motion that got a US Marshall and Debra killed just when Debra was finally happy with her job and with Joey Quinn. Dexter risked Hannah being captured when she needed to get to Argentina by wasting time with Saxon and Dexter bailed on a woman who loved him enough to go to prison for him and didn't tell the authorities that Dexter was TBBB and she was left to raise Dexter's son without him in a strange country. There's nothing heroic about Dexter, a man who dumped his sister's body in the same disgusting way he dumped serial killers creating the most despised ending of a series in TV history.

@@alahad I am but I'm amazed how Dexter is revered by so many people so it must not be the point of the whole show that's he's just evil and doesn't care about people. I gave Hannah a pass because we find out from Harrison in New Blood that Hannah loved Harrison and was a good parent to him up until her death from cancer. I wish they would add her character in to the new series with Michael C Hall. They're making up all kinds of new stuff so Harrison could say he lied to hurt Dexter and Hannah is living in Argentina and Harrison ran away to punish Dexter for hurting her among a million other things.

@ Oh geez, I hope Hannah is actually dead, that would cheapen the whole thing a lot. In any case, notice how we, the audience are as manipulated by Dexter's charisma as everyone around him? it is possible the series is more genius than we thought. Also, when he kills the coach/police guy in a desperate move, I kinda saw him for what he was, kinda pathetic in the end.
