i think it's a miracle in the sense of she was put in a position where she was offered to get the surgery she wanted to get for herself, and all the help and support from the doctors. she was given the opportunity and that can be seen is a miraculous opportunity. This is small, but I cut her a ton of slack when she plopped the “lettuce” (really a cabbage) into her cart. They didn’t delve into it much on the show, but she is extremely vision-impaired. I made note of this because a few years ago I lost much of my eyesight, and I have done very similar things in the grocery store. I know full well the difference between a zucchini and a cucumber, but my vision deficit can cause me to make really stupid errors (so embarrassing!).

Simply the best Not all vision deficits are equal. My injury caused me to lose all vision in my left eye and have huge blind spots in my right eye. It is like looking through a hollowed-out pen; I can only see a very small bit and I have to be looking directly at it. As a result, I am here typing on a tiny phone slowly, but just fine, but I ansolutely can no longer drive, for example (if I am looking straight ahead at the road, I cannot see a pedestrian on the side of the road). The vision I retained is still very good! It is just the blind spots that create my deficit. Amy may be similar. I honestly don’t know because the show devoted exactly four seconds to explaining her vision.

There was one woman who was faced with a similar situation in her husband. He was into big women and when she made the decision to begin to lose weight (not just for herself but for her daughter too who was also big), he did straight up sabotage her by purposely getting fatty foods that she loved and even going so far as to throw out her healthy foods. They ended up divorced because of his want for her to stay obese and her need to be healthier.

0:41 This scene really makes me like Amy. She's lacking knowledge in vegetables, yeah... But she's at least trying and putting veggies in her cart. (And she's walking with the cart, not sitting in a scooter.) And then when a producer points out that it's not lettuce, she doesn't get upset and try to claim she knows what she's doing. She laughs and admits that she doesn't really know what she's doing, and proceeds to put the cabbage back to get the right thing this time. It just really shows that she's willing to own up to her mistakes and accept that she needs to learn and work more, and she's very much willing to do it with a positive attitude. I really really like that scene. :)

But now, ive been losing slowly and steadily, every week i lose around .7 kg- to 1 kg by eating 1200 calories and somedays 1500! im almost at my goal weight. slow and steady is the goal. Go to a tdee calculator and check how many calories you need to maintain, then subtract five hundred calories from it (but DO NOT GO UNDER 1200 calories) and trust me. it's soooo helpful.

Amy having goals, knowing who she is and who she wants to be, stands in very stark contrast to ALR's flip-flopping (& flippancy) as well as her "I don't want to open that door" attitude towards therapy. I don't know if Amy has opened all the doors, but she's opened a few and they led to losing 100 pounds. ALR's outright refusal to even look at the door, much less grab the handle, shows that she will never break her cycles or find her motivation to really change.

Portion control became a fun game for my wife and I, not joking. Learning how to make food delicious was always my goal too. We’ve had so much fun learning how to cook well. I started with blue apron to teach me how to cook. Sounds silly but it really helped. I still can’t throw things together from random ingredients but I can look at a recipe I don’t have all ingredients for and make do with substitutions without looking it up. It’s fun.

This story hit me really hard- I have never heard of amy before this video but I struggled with infertility for 2 years because of my weight- when I finally got down to around 230 I got pregnant with my now 1 year old son. I gained a ton of my weight back due to severe ppd but I’m currently losing it all again so I can be the best mom I can be. This video has me crying right now because I know exactly how it feels when all you want to do is be a mother and your the only person standing in your way. I’m going to go follow her right now lol

I'm not overweight, but when I started working out for mental health purposes, that's when it became a routine integrated aspect of my life. Previously I did it to look good, and always dropped it. But when I did it out of necessity, if I didn't exercise my anxiety and depression were worse - I was unable to cope with basic things - the exercise made me the person I knew I was at the core. Calm, cool and relaxed. The added body is great, but eating well and exercising becoming a thing of self care, respect and appreciation changed my world. It was no longer obligation or something to please others or feed my ego, it was purely to give me peace.

I can definitely attest to the fact that internalizing a goal like this does so much to help you achieve it. I'm trans (ftm). Once I learned that the only way I was going to lose my curves and look more masculine - even with T - was to lose weight, that was the moment I started taking it seriously. I've been really seriously working at changing my habits for the first time, and I'm already seeing results

This!!! I related to Amy so hard. Recovering from an eating disorder was so hard when I wanted to be skinny more than I wanted to be healthy. I think the biggest factor in my recovery is imagining when I raise children of my own, I don’t want them to see those behaviors and adopt them. Motivation is more than self discipline, it’s inspiration and hope.
