Interesting how the smaller motors are configured, thanks for sharing Gerry!!

I agree, they are driven by a clutch which certainly is not the way a larger motor operates. Gerry

Glad you figured that out. Sounds like you caught a break with a minor repair.

On the way home using the trolling motors I was assessing what motor to buy to replace this one if I had to junk it. Lucky it worked out. Gerry

I had my shear pin shear off earlier this week. Thanks for the numbers, will come in handy. I had a throw cushion in the boat and large tackle box. I put the cushion on top of the tackle box and pulled the motor off and laid it on the cushion and managed to do it on the water. I don't recommend it but I managed to get it done. I still have the plastic prop. Tight lines Gerry, another great video.

Lynn, pulling the motor in would be OK but putting it back would be more concern to me. Glad you made it home OK. Gerry

Well you got lucky again on this one Gerry. I would of taken mine to the marina repair shop and paid a lot more than you did. I guess you left the warm weather of Florida just in time to see the cold weather of the North. It was 35 this morning in levering and we actually fired up the Pellet stove to get the chill out of our summer bones.

Steve, I agree that I got lucky on this repair. I was expecting something bad. In Upstate NY to visit family. Supposed to be 39 overnight Thursday. It was 90 when I left Florida just two days ago! ☃️ Gerry

Back about ,, hmmm 🤔,,, I'll say 35 years ago I Fixed up a 4hp "Gale" That was made like these ,I used it in the backwater setting limb lines for catfish when the river flooded the swamp, Guarenteed, between the Logs , Stumps , Cypress Knees, it happened at least once a year , I kept them , here's What I did I Bought a stick of Round metal Rod the same Curcumstance of that Shear Pin , I guess that Round metal Rod Stock was about 3 ft long ,I cut that Up in the Right length it seems like it was about 2 inches if. My memory serves me correctly that's what I cut em , the trick was if you wasn't careful you'd spin the Carter Key and break it off as well , bad deal when that happened cause ya lost the prop too , yep , I had to go back when the water went down a couple of times to retrieve my prop lol , one time in particular I couldn't find it , I figured it was gone ,just by Accident I was squirrel hunting in that area the next Fall and guess what I stumbled across lol 🤣, So I got it back that time by luck alone lol , , I carried a extra Shear Pin, Carter Key, pliers screwdriver, Hammer, And a little two blade Prop off of something else that would work in emergency in the Boat when I was using That Gale mtr, , caught Many Many Many Catfish using that little motor , was cheap to use , and I couldn't get my Other boat in the Places I was using this set-up little 12' Leaking aluminum boat I think a Quichata, it had a Indian On The Logo I remember that lol ,, Lawdy that brought me back to another lifetime ago lol 🤣🤣,glad ya fixed er up Gerry , I'm Rambling On With Fishin Stories Lol ,, Anyway just a tip for y'all look into that round metal Rod Stock , probably tractor supply will have it , measure them up and cut ya a few extras ,it works fine or Did for me I think I had to get it at the co op , Honestly till I found that Metal Rod Stock I Used A Big Nail I Cut Down lol , you can Buy the extra Carter Keys at tractor supply as well , Stay Safe Out There , Keep It Reelin 💦🐟🎣🤠

Donnie, in the past I did the same with the small brass rod and nails with the heads cut off. I am too old now to be swimming home and too many gators here to try that anyway. The problem with the brass rod and nail is you never know if they will break instead of the prop or cotter pin of the shaft breaking. But back then I did not much care. Gerry

@@LunkerFishing true back then it was whatever worked so I could go run my limb lines the next morning or that afternoon lol ,, I saw a Dinosaur Gator Wensday as a matter of fact in a lake I fish ,back during the bull bream bedding I saw one in there about 8' a good sized Gator , Saw a couple Tuesday nothing that Big , But Wensday goodness sakes alive ,he's a sneaky booger too ,I noticed the bubbles as he came a little Closer then disappear, when he Popped up about 60 yards below me I did a double take , what I could see of this gators head was at least 2 ft wide and From what I saw I'm gonna Guesstimate close to 13, I caught a 13 1/2 ft one and relocated it ,it was part of my job as Wildlife Officer , They're rare this big , Honestly one that big needs to be Removed he's dangerous , after I saw the size it made me a bit nervous because of the way it came to my boat on bottom, then around me where the launch is you have to get in the water about a ft or so to load up and he was headed that way ya might know BUT, Its exactly one of the reasons I Carry When I Fish , Better Safe Than Sorry , Not a bad idea For Anyone Honestly , Stay Safe My Friend Keep it Reelin 💦🐟🎣🤠 ,
