Ventura was a terrible Governor. That's why he didn't run for a second term. He left with a $4.2 billion budget deficit, but came into office to a $3 billion budget surplus

@@TELEVISIONARCHIVES I think he was an excellent governor. People have this weird fallacy that a surplus is good and a deficit is bad. The truth is both are bad. A surplus means that the people have been over taxed. The government preceding Ventura chose to spend the surplus. One of Jesse’s campaign issues was following the budget. If you run a surplus you don’t spend it because you didn’t budget for it or vote on it. Especially when the government uses surplus money to initiate a new program that permanently increases the budget. Jesse ran surpluses during his tenure and returned the money to the tax payer. I respect that. Every other politician believes they are entitled to your money and will spend every penny of a surplus. Jesse had a Democratic Senate and a Republican House during his governorship. Meaning he had to play ball. In Jesse’s last year he vetoed the budget but the legislature overrode him.
