Pat Riley signed the Heat up for the Jimmy Butler experience and the organization, team, and fans got exactly that. The good, the bad and the ugly. This is exactly the same behavior Jimmy did when he wanted a larger contract on his previous teams which made him available for Miami to acquire. Jimmy was under 29 years old when he got to the Heat. His value statistically speaking should be under $15 million. Then veteran minimum. For example only 4 active players are 39 years old or older! He is more likely only has 4 more years to play. Only five players were able to score over 20 PPG at the age of 36 years or older! Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Stephan Curry, and Kevin Durant. That's it.

Exactly. It's an age thing and nothing more. Jimmy was never the quickest or jumped the highest but nobody outworked him and it took him far. Now that he's aging and slowing down it's very noticeable as opposed to a player like LeBron who was a super freak athlete so his regression was much slower.

Butler has a $55m option for next year. He'll take it because no team is going to pay 35 year old Jimmy $50 million. But to be fair, Riley is good for sending players out to pasture unceremoniously, no matter what you've done for the franchise, once he feels you have no use to him. If Wade didn't get the company loyalty program, what is Butler expecting? Regardless, being unhappy with $50m this year and $55m next year is crazy work.

I believe if Jimmy had told Miami before the season that he wanted out, they would have figured it out. Instead, it seems the Suns figured out no one wanted to extend Jimmy, and they jumped on the opportunity by tampering in-season. That's how we got here. Jimmy's tune changed during the season, not before.

He is given slack that most GMs or presidents don’t get cause he’s brought 3 championships to the organization and 9 total throughout as a player, head coach, GM and president. But your vocabulary is incorrect. Jimmy Butler is under contract getting paid $48 million. He should come to work on time be productive accordingly. He is in fact being unprofessional and detrimental to his colleagues, in a sport where he’s coworkers need to answer for him to the press.
