I totally get why that would freak you out-you're not alone in feeling like the tech we use every day is almost reading our minds. While it might seem like these devices are tapping into your thoughts, what's really happening is a mix of incredibly sophisticated data analysis and predictive algorithms. Think about it: every tap, every search, every site you visit, and even the time of day you do these things is being tracked. Over time, this data creates an incredibly detailed profile of you. Companies use this to predict what you might want or think about next, sometimes with eerie accuracy. So when something pops up that you were just thinking about, it’s often because the tech has already pieced together enough information to guess what you might be interested in. It’s not in your head-it’s in the data. These companies have gotten so good at predicting our behavior that it feels like they’re reading our minds. But in reality, they’re just using all the information we unknowingly give them to stay one step ahead of us. It’s definitely unsettling, and it’s a big part of why understanding how our data is collected and used is so important.

On a different device, later that day, I decided to rewatch a twenty yr old anime, called Serial Experiments Lain. At a point in the show, when it is describing a nanobot-drug, the background English text...was about angiogenesis in tumor formation. Yes, the two devices were on the same wifi, but different YT accounts. Also..."retrocausality"??

Okay, I'm careful. I have very few apps on my phone but it is an Android. I had something very strange happen. I was at my grandson's mother's house and bought something online for my grandson. I had searched with Google to find the item. Then, I ordered it at this reputable website from my phone. A few hours later after I got home, I went online on my laptop. I went to Bing. I don't have Bing or anything Microsoft on my phone. The strange thing that happened was that the minute I opened the Edge browser, Microsoft showed an ad for the exact item I bought being sold where I bought it. So, how did Microsoft know about a purchase that I made through Google on a device without any Microsoft app on it? That really freaked me out.
@SecurityResearcherАй бұрын
Hey, I totally get why that experience would be freaky it’s like Big Brother is watching, right? (hence the coffee cup I have in my shop securityresearcher-shop.fourthwall.com/products/coffee-with-your-big-brother ). The situation you're describing is a perfect example of how deeply embedded ad tech and data-sharing practices are, even when it feels like everything should be separate. So apple or android, here is how this works. When you searched for that item on your phone and made a purchase, a few things were likely happening in the background: Tracking Pixels and Cookies: When you visit websites and make purchases, they often use tiny bits of code called tracking pixels or cookies. These track your activity and can share data about your shopping habits with ad networks. Even if you’re using Google to search and purchase, those websites can have partnerships with other companies, including Microsoft. Cross-Device Tracking: Ad tech companies are really good at connecting the dots between different devices. They use something called cross-device tracking, which can link your phone and your laptop through common identifiers like your IP address, email, or even just the same Wi-Fi network. So, even if you’re on a different device or using a different browser, these companies can still figure out it’s you. Ad Exchanges: The ad you saw on Bing was probably served through an ad exchange-a marketplace where advertisers bid on the opportunity to show you an ad. If the site where you bought the item shared data with an ad exchange, Microsoft could’ve won the bid to show you an ad for the same item when you opened Edge. Shared Data Pools: Companies like Google and Microsoft are massive and are often part of broader data-sharing networks. They might buy or share data from third parties that track online purchases. Even if you don’t have Microsoft apps on your phone, data about your purchase can still make its way to them. In short, what likely happened is that your purchase data was tracked, shared, and then linked across devices to serve you that ad. It’s a bit unsettling, but that’s how the ad tech ecosystem works-constantly collecting and sharing data on us. It’s a reminder of just how interconnected everything is.

To me the real amazing part is that they developed this super powerful tech, conducted the research and development and got the investment and worked with lawmakers and lawyers and ....and..... in the end.... they send you and advertisement for something you have already purchased moments ago. Like... way to go there buddy. Thats super informative market innovation.

Yeah how you purchase/pay for it, and any phone/telecom/network data. People don't realize how much seemingly unrelated metadata reveals about them. I just heard the same on A.I. and video/camera monitoring. A mask doesn't hide you there's walk/gate, posture, lingering/loitering, I used to do something similar when monitoring. long distance security cams, you'd be surprized how much and who much you can figure out. Keep in mind there are over 2000 muscles in face alone. So a mask covering nose down STILL reveils alot.

Its recording just like any voice bot sending it to Amazon AWS ai and others then those conversations she has with he equally old female friends sends adverts for products that would appeal to her and her buddies but they appear in my Outlook and Amazon account as promoted items . Other times random conversation in her house about old music from the 80's , one was visage fade to grey had me log on later and have that very piece of music recommend to me, something i hadn't listened to in 10 years.
